Quote Jim Pooley="Jim Pooley"I'd actually put it down to Steve Devonshire myself.....the level of 2-way dialogue since he's been back is the best since the 2007 season.'"
Of course you put it down to Steve Devonshire, but that says nothing about who at the club interacts with the fans, and everything about how you interact with the club. Your relationship is an entirely virtual one, so you will only see the interaction via electronic media. You will claim to be able to comment on the match day experience because you read match reports and watch highlights. But they won't tell you who was out on the pitch after the game encouraging players to walk over and acknowledge the fans after many years of that not happening. They won't tell you was encouraging the players to come into the bar to talk and engage with the fans after several years of that not happening. And let me give you a clue, it wasn't Steve Devonshire and it wasn't a cabbage, it was Joey.
Quote Jim Pooley="Jim Pooley"Let's just agree to disagree on how and why this re-engagement happened.'"
So of course when you realise you're out of your depth you resort to deflection tactics. Because "let's agree to disagree" actually means "of damn it, I can't really argue about how people behave on matchday because I'm not there"
Quote Jim Pooley="Jim Pooley"the players AND THE COACH have no excuses for it.....he was out of his depth.'"
I reserved judgement on his coaching abilities because he wasn't there long enough. And I still reserve judgement.
Quote Jim Pooley="Jim Pooley"Come on. There's only a handful of you
'" And so we get to your latest obsession, that we are all a cosy little clique with David Hughes. I'll repeat what I said before, which you deliberately ignored because it was inconvenient. David Hughes doesn't come in the bar. He has no idea who I am. He has no idea who most of the membership holders are. If we didn't have Broncos shirts on he'd probably assume we were involved with Barnet FC.
Quote Jim Pooley="Jim Pooley"You've probably heard it already, but the story of how the final disengagement between players and fans happened was when Powell asked Mackay if the players could be excused going into the bar after games and after asking Hughes, permission was given.'"
So I talk about who helped re-engage with the fans, and you go back to talking about who stopped it in the first place. Let me spell this out for you.
We know who stopped the engagement with the fans. WE WERE THERE. WE SAW IT WITH OUR OWN EYES. Repeating it ad infinitum informs no-one and will change nothing that has already gone. Powell and Mackay are long gone, why are you still indulging in Gustalgia?
Quote Jim Pooley="Jim Pooley"Hughes employed MacKay and Powell.........the prosecution rests M'lud!'"
Prosecution for what???? I praised Joey Grima for helping re-engage the fans and you come up with an utter irrelevance. It's not relevant to what I wrote, it's not relavant to the thread.
