Its a retreat to their own stadium......seems that they, like sarries see the benefit of staying put and putting Down roots......
As for the stir.....lol....harlequins seem to do OK....saries full most games....sale do better than Salford......you'll need a bigger boat

| Actually I heard whisper from a normally reliable source that was one options under consideration if we didn't start 2014. The RFL had contracts with Sky and Manchester City that meant 14 teams were needed that season. Worst case a badly funded shell of a club hobbling through the season may well have been supported by the other clubs as the least worst alterative compared to running a 13 team league. The team would have been set up to fulfill fixtures and doomed to relegation. Clearly David sticking around was always the preferred option, hence the marketing money.
The other option was to promote Fev who were offering to go up. I think there were probably concerns about that. Obviously the main man behind the offer walked during the season suggesting the shell London club may have been a least worst option there too, as opposed to trashing Fev a club with a good future if well run.

| So just throwing in a question here!!! apaprently according to certain scources on here, someone at the club was bribed by the RFL with a marketing budget! Not going to mention any names as I believe without any facts comments liek that can come back and bight you!
But if thats the case! then what is the difference between that and Mr Hughes walking and RFL supporting the club through the season as was being suggested might have happened. We played in 2014, was going to say competed but that would be stretching it.
Mr Hughes in his wisdom decided to continue to support the club, and believe he still intends to! The RFL did not step in to run the club, or replace us with Fev/Leigh.
IF we were assisted by the RFL with a markettign budget so what???? was that not a better option than being fully funded by the RFL and then wound up this year as was the suggested would have happened?
Pressure from SKY was nothing to do with London!!! it was to do with "Magic Weekend"

the marketing budget was a bribe to the landlord.....I really dont see how even as naive as you cant see thias Michael. The RFL had been asked for years to help us out with promoting the game, but they only deemed OUR LANDLORD WORTHY when it was obvios we were going down. Are you truly that blind that you think that AK was given this money to promote us, rather than to grease the wheels and ensure we fulfilled our fixtures?
SKY wanted 14 teams in 2014....AK receieved all the income from our games AND A BRIBE/SWEETENER TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN......this is not conspiracy, the bloke stood up at the fans forum and said as much.

| So what would you have preferred in reality their were 3 options 1 we folded and played no games. 2 we were fully bailed out by the rfl fulfilling out fixtures this year then wound up. 3 we did what we did I refuse to stoop to making libelous comments as you choose to do.
By the way option 1 and 2 would have made next season irrelevant

I don't use the word bribe. It was a sweetener, hardly unknown in business deals.
The difference is that David's presence meant less RFL/ central funding was needed than if they had ended up propping us up for one season. ( Your comment later in the thread it would only have been one season is cotrrect.)
I believe Leigh had no interest in going up, sensibly believing they would be better off building for the return of promotion rather than being a sacrificial lamb in Superleague.
To the best of my knowledge there was no direct pressure from either Sky or MCFC for Broncos to play last season. The contracts said 14 teams and Fev would have met that criteria.
Also to clarify, there were some voices in the sport arguing for 13 teams if we didn't start. Largely from other clubs as they fancied a 13th if our central funding.

| Other folk used the word bribe!
as for 14 teams, that's what I said, it was nothing to do with it being London just the requirement to have 7 games at magic as suggested

Michael. the marketing budget was a bribe...pure and simple.
with regard to 2015 we have yet to hear exactly what the relationship is between us and the hive. Â

Option 1. Losing 26 games destroyed the confidence of some younger players who have now been cast aside to make way for some of the coaches buddies.
The reality is that the man who destroyed the club now has an opportunity to walk away blameless in the eyes of some on here. Chirpy confidence of a good season in the 2nd tier seems to placate the few fans left, when in fact we should still be in sl.....
If you dont think i am right, then do some maths......3800 average before hughes took sole ownership.....1200 this year. How many fans are missing......as in they couldn t be d anymore because the club was being death ridden. We lost another 1100 this year........but i am wrong in your eyes.
After asking for help and threatening to walk a few years back, hughes hailed his achievement of getting assistance......not money but assistance. In 2014 the rfl stumped up assistance and cash...CASH. it was a bribe to get AK to take us in.
As for 2015......sure, the team will win more than they lose, but fev arent the draw wigan are.....new fans will be harder to come by now.

| It's been a disaster, one monumental cock up too far resulting in us losing a HUGE portion of our fanbase, forever, and getting relegated.
I don't see any bright future for the club, we'll win a few games next year sure, but we WILL NOT get promoted and the lost fans will not come back, I expect if we get this long term deal signed at the Hive we'll be playing lower tier RL for the next 10 - 20 years in front of crowds of 500-1000.
Where there's life there's hope so you never know I guess, and I'm pleased we'll still be around, but it's such a shame the supporters have gone.
If we'd moved to the Hive with that support still there we'd be one of the strongest clubs outside SL with a real hope for the future.

| Ah so you show your true colours, in your opinion then we should have folded last year and not played at all.
As you love your numbers so much, how would that have panned out with comparison fan numbers?
As for shattering confidence errrrr the difference is they played rugby league, not playing at all would have achieved what for players confidence levels?
Coaches build squads generally from players they know, if you consider that to be looking after his mates, then so what? It's what happens.
As for not having the draw of big clubs and fans on here looking at the positives of next year, sadly some of us want to watch rugby league, yep we would prefer it to be SL but it's not going to be, so we will enjoy what we can, constant bleating ain't going to change it.
But most of us obviously not including gutters are just pleased we still have the team to support
