At least the club have finally recognised the issue and the frustration of fans in public. As I suspect others on here had done, I had e-mailed the club earlier this week asking wtf was going on.

I agree it is a start, and by implication the problem is not just the coach. Could it make much difference on Sunday, I doubt it. The RFL will also have had a word I suspect.

I make you right WQ. Moreso the No2s. I know one for example that is an assist at an NRL side, coaches the reserves, works in a sports school, has worked with the juniors and U20s, as a development officer and more.
Having worked here for years I still don't get the obsession with hiring an aussie coach as though they know so much more or are magic. Simply mythical.
Is Mal Meninga a great coach? No. Not even remotely. Something that's known over here for years yet more amusingly something that he himself admitted on telly the other morning. |

Im not saying all Aussie coaches are the best as has been seen at Saints, Reds, Possibly HKR currently
The game is bigger in Aus and seems more advanced- Look at the changes Brown and McGuire have brought about not to mention some of the others that have come in at other clubs. One thing is for sure the defence will improve if nothing else!
What are the options here with UK coaches, Nobby, Kear, Powell, Harrison, Cullen, Ashton, etc not great

Hello WQ. Comment's not directed at you specifically, but I do scratch my head as to why there is a perception that because someone is Australian they are clearly better than someone from blighty re coaching RL.
It's a mindset I personally detest and is deep rooted in our psyche. Time to get rid of it. |
