you think i am looking for some sort of sympathy? i am not. i think its a worthwhile event giving people free tickets. some warrington fans who wouldn't have come otherwise, are now coming.

im just pointing out to you that i have, as you so eloquently put it "put my hand in my pocket", and do not expect anything for free, and the more people they manage to get through the door, be them quins or wire fans, the better. ideally, of course we would like to see 1000 new speccies come through the gates, but if even 5 or 10% of those with free tickets are first timers, then its a worthwhile exercise

If we're going to give out free tickets, then do it properly. Open up the South Stand and fill it with kids from local schools and their parents.

Couldn't agree more, I mean what is the point ? Fair enough the Warrington fans want to take advantage, but surely this is about introducing potential new fans to start supporting London on a regular basis rather than, subsidising away fans cheap day out. If there is not enough local interest to take up the 1000 tickets then fair enough but that says a lot more about the appeal of Harlequins RL at the moment than anything else. The whole marketing and promotions side of the business needs to be overhauled big time.

Is it any wonder we are so popular with our northern visitors, free tickets and guaranteed away wins as well, we are still working on the gravy quality I understand.

Those of you who are alert will have seen/heard me raise concerns around the 'free' tickets scenario a while back......like in 2009 when the Facebook page getting 1,000 fans was to get everyone free entry......I suspect that we have a fair few Huddersfield Giants fans as members of the Facebook community

I received my free tickets to the Cas and Bradford games....they were forwarded to a mate who used them. I have received 1 email since asking me about the experience...........

The Northern rugby league world have caught on and that is not how I envisioned the ticket promotion when we first started, it was to try and attract new people to rugby league, but I can't see a way around it.

No free ticket admission unless you have an Oyster card! That'll sort those northern blaggers!

There is a serious point to this though. We are overkilling the free ticket promotions. The 4 for £40 deal was a step in the right direction but if we keep throwing freebies in as well all we'll do is annoy people who signed up to that.

The best way I can think of would be to do it via cut out coupons in copies of the paper, redeemable at the ground on matchdays. The old London Knights ice hockey club used to do that in the Standard around ten years ago. (Unless there's some reason why it can't be done anymore unless it's on the website too.)

You can't blame the northerners for using their initiative and taking advantage of the situation and getting themselves a bit of a discount on an expensive trip, but it's a bit pointless our club giving away hundreds of tickets to people who would have travelled anyway and willingly paid £15 on the gate.


I hate fussy eaters. They'll be expecting black pudding and tripe next year.
