| Can't make it myself but I really enjoyed it last year. Good beer, good game and great crack from the Keighley fans. Turn up in a Bradford shirt and see what happens.

| Couldn't give a hoot what Skolars are up to tbh. They have very different objectives to us, let them get on with things and we will go about our business too.

| Quote: Darthchris "Media coverage for a London league doubleheader on the weekend of the cup final would have been a lot more than either club would ever normally get.
That's one reason to have it.
another is the increased gate as a one of and the long term rub off of above on overall follow-up coverage.
two games for the price of one is always a good thing.
So is a beer festival.
It would also have helped skolars long term as it would have introduced them to the wider london rl community.'"
These may mostly be valid points though I'm not at all convinced by the last.
It's Skolars' preogative to keep their home game at their home ground, and I'm not convinced a 6pm kick off for their game against Keighley at The Stoop would have introduced them to many people other than northern neutrals arriving early for the cup final.
If they feel they're building long-term momentum with the pre-cup final Friday night home game who are we to tell them what's best for them? That's just a patronising "Guardian-reader" attitude.

| i could be wrong but i think people like to come as they feel its grassroots. loads of fans from across SL make the effort and like the fact they can just enjoy the night as a neutral. i think as the game is so big teh day after they like the contrast. one of my concerns with wrapping around a SL game it woudl not have the same appeal.

I fully appreciate and understand the reasons for keeping this as a skolars only event, I just think that a 1 off event would have raised the profile of both clubs. Quins would gain with increased coverage in the London Media, as would skolars. I also believe that Skolars would have received more revenue from the stoop.
That said, I am sure their friday night event will continue to grow and grow and wish them all the best (and if I can sneak out, I will be there!!!)

The northerners who live in London and would not have bothered/been introduced to skolars. rather than the northerners who live up north.

Agreed. It's a great formula that would be adulterated merely by taking it to the Stoop and further mashed by an SL game. Would be even better if the hot dog stall could speed up a bit. The Keighley fans last year were worried they wouldn't make the kick-off. Not the Skolars one, the Wembley one the day after.

With just over a week to go until the Challenge Cup semi finals, it's time to start making plans for your Wembley weekend! Friday Night Lights is the perfect start to the trip with live Championship 1 Rugby League between London Skolars and Keighley Cougars on Friday 28th August as an appetiser to the main event on the Saturday.
With Joe Mbu, Jack Graves, Rob Thomas and Jamie O'Callaghan turning out for the Skolars in recent weeks there is a fair chance that other future Quins stars will be playing in the Friday Night Lights event. What a great opportunity for Harlequins RL fans to see the future of their club in a carnival setting.
With a beer festival, an exhibition game between MPs and a London All Stars, food stalls and BBQ it’s a part of the weekend you don’t want to miss out on!
Advance adult tickets are £10 and concessions £6. For more information and to purchase tickets contact Paul Thorman on 020 8888 8488 or paulthorman@skolarsrl.com.

| I can buy beer without paying £10 for the priv...
I can watch teams ship points like the Titanic for free
I can be patronised by a lot of things, but what I won't do is put up with a club that on one hand has fans who ridicule the idea of taking Quins reserve players on a more regular basis and then uses the same quins players to sell tickets to a dead event.
Good luck......but I really hope this event is the kick up the 'arris your management need to help them realise that their little empire is dead in the water. 46 points is the average difference between the Skolars and the opposition this year......enjoy!
And before anyone jumps on me.......sport is a business and the Skolars a prime example of not how to run a business in Sport. 300 fans........getting spanked every week and when offered an opportunity.....they turn it down on "principle"...
Roofs at HKR should get on with them.

Nope.....boots fine! The skolars though, when I posted about bouncing our reserves in, were less than complimentary..........and now they use the reserves to boost the BEST NIGHT IN LONDON RL
Sorry, but ef'em!
I have never claimed to have the answer, but have always offered a potential solution.........and when I suggested a combined night, I got shot down. I suspect the club had already thought of this (I would live to claim it but I can't) and yet Skolars still rejected it.......They are being mashed every week and whatever the turnout for the CC eve do, that is not good for the future of the game. Next time they are offered "help".....I would suggest they take it. If they don't, I would see Hemel Stags or South London Storm in the place at the drop of a hat.
As I have said......Sport is now a business. It's something we accepted along with our 3 year licence!

| The perfect scenario. Gutters makes his fortune down under breeding Tasmanian devils or whatever they do down there. He comes back, buys the Skolars and gives the Quins a run for their money.
You read it here first.
