| Quote Surreyben="Surreyben"Time for a change.
I'm writing this having just seen "Boots 'n' All - The Tries" where in an interview they claim Brian Mac would be a great coach at "a club with better quality players". Hmmm'"
As far as the Sky pundits are concerned BM is immune from criticism when it comes to our side,
Always has been and always will be. Fullsome praise particularly from his namesake Barry is never far
away. Whether we have been steamrollered or had a rare win its the same old script.
And so yes its hardly surprising to hear yet more talking of up Mac.
Personally I hope he does get the Bulls job to allow him to progress, as we by the sound of it are holding
him back. If he goes I genuinely hope he does well. But yes FWIW I agree with most here in that a change is required.

| Quote The Lambeth Quin="The Lambeth Quin"Here's my radical (or not so, depending on yer point of view) approach.
1. say au revior Mr McDermott. Thanks for what you've done but the game is up.
2. say au revior Mr Blanchard, Thanks for what you've done in the circumstances you have had to work within.
3. Appoint Jon Wells as Chief Executive (providing he wants the job) with;
A) an immediate brief to recruit an "up and coming" (god I hate that cliche!) coach, who is looking to make his reputation as a No1 at a Superleague Club. (I know Jason Taylor has been mooted by some in the past.)
B) Review players contracts within the cap system and "prune" and "add to" as neccesary.
B) In the longer term allow JW the finances and infrastructure to implement "Project Phoenix" an ongoing process for fan base growth and putting Quins on a more self reliant platform than currently. Gutterfax you've got the plan, you want the Marketing Managers job?
4. Retain Quins "style" kit but have current 2nd kit (blue, red and yellow qtrs) as home kit and have the Fulham 30 year anniversary kit as away kit (If any "branding" agreement with landlords allow). This would allow the RL team to have a distinct image seperate from our landlords, whilst not deminishing the "quins brand".
5. Encourage fans to form a "supporters trust" on the understanding that when thery are up and running they can have a 10% share in the Quins rl company on establishment and appoint a trust member to the board via a fair and democratic election that is monitored and verified by an organisation such as The electorial reform society after they have been in existance for 1 year. As part of this process the club and supporters to have ongoing dialouge to improve the lot of "Quins RL". Supporters aren't part of the problem (well alack of us is) they are an integral part of the solution.
Now where those bloody winning numbers for Friday's Euromillions rollover again and how much for your shares Mr Lennagen???
PS: for the record I haven't been "engaged" in intoxicating liquor or "herbal" remedies. Like Jake and Elwood "I'm on a mission from God".................'"
I =#FF0000 would go will all that with the exception of the end of PB. He has done a reasonable job when you consider the poor form, the recession and the World Cup. There may even be an increase in gates this season. Definitely get Welsi on board, for media purposes, player recruitment and strategy, he would make a good replacement for CW. Gutters is left field but that is what we need to get the attention of the local populace.

| Brian must go. Paul Blanchard should remain. If we are to bring in a former player to coach he must be attractive to work with, an RL legend. Henry Paul would be ideal rather than someone popular but average.

There's very little in here to disagree with as far as I am concerned, I think appointing JW or another recent former player could be a great move.JW is articulate and close enough to the 1st team to carry out a CE role and would do a good job for us as the 'face ' of the club. Definitely agree with the kit move, outside of those that follow RL most people see one of our shirts and think its a RU one - the red/yellow/blue quarters would give us a distinctive look and most importantly it would be ours! The black Fulham style kit would be great as our away strip. I've long banged on to anyone who'll listen about bringing in a young coach from the NRL (someone like Nathan Brown for example) - if results improve it would make GF's job easier to sell RL to the public of London and the South.

| I'm not exactly bothered if Mac goes or stays. If you look at the clubs that are at the top (Wigan, Saints, Leeds, Warrington) they all have massive strength in depth in terms of their squads. Tony Smith has created a huge squad full of quality at Wires, with each player playing for his position. If there's an injury, they have players of almost equal quality coming in to plug the gaps. Ditto Leeds- you saw how they outclassed us even with quite a few of their best players out.
If you look at a team like Catalans, they have similar problems to us in that they've had a lot of injuries and lack the strength and depth.
However, injuries permitting, we do have a squad that can be in the top half of the table, as shown last season. Their have been flashes of that quality this year, but we're clearly heading in a downward trajectory. Maybe a better coach could get better results out of a, at times, threadbare squad? Or at least instiute signings and sacking that would move the club forward...

| Quote wire-quin="wire-quin"I dont buy into your theory Listy(accepting the coach doesnt ask the players to drop the ball etc) He sets the tone for the way we play. His game plan flits from a dull grind it out style to playing with gay abandon-What we need is something in the middle and he just doesnt seem to be able to implement that.
He has brought in his players, its his team, his game plan, his coaching team, his training plan etc. Listy you will find out in business the higher you get up the ladder the closer you are to the door-accountability'"
The tone we play? Over this season, I have only been frustrated by our overall performance once, and that was when we got beat at home by Salford. Our game plan has been effective to an extent - people complain that the forwards aren't setting the platform, but to me they are, and its our backs that are letting us down big style.
You think another coach would do a better job re: players, training plan etc? Clutching at straws springs to mind. If we are talking about accountability than whoever appointed McDermott should take responsibility.

| Quote BroncOnIon="BroncOnIon"Clubb: I don't think he's found his true position (if he has one at all at SL level) yet. He's played centre this season because there's nobody else, assuming that May wouldn't be an improvement.
LMS: Inconsistent this season. Don't know why but it's not necessarily the coach's fault.
Purdo: Has frequently played centre when needed and makes a bl**dy good job of it too. Big injury problems this season.
Melling: Was signed specifically as a utility. (He'd won Wigan's Academy player of the season the previous year, playing mainly at hooker!) He's a hard-working player, never was an international class FB.'"
Thank you BroncOnIon, this is exactly what I was getting at.

| Who cares about the shirt! It makes 0 DIFFERENCE. We are Harlequins RL, we should wear a Harlequins shirt for a prolonged period of time and people will begin to accept it, rather than shifting back to the colours of two failed eras that have no association to our current club whatsoever.
