You're right, but he's not as lightweight as Matt James, who's probably smaller than Tony Clubb.

Thackray is 6ft 1ins according to the stats so not too bad a height for a prop. James is listed at 6ft.

I'd sign Thackray like a shot. He's had problems in the past but we've been crying out for an aggressive line breaker which Thackray can be at his best.

I'd hardly call him stout myself rlhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v, but I've never thiought of him as small.

Reckon he is worth a look.

Matt James Bradford profile puts him at 95kg (15st), admittedly profiles are often made, but it doesn't suggest he'll add bulk to our pack. Our biggest forward is Haggy who is listed as 18st+, although other reports put him over 19st (closer to 20st would probably more realistic given he's not been fully match fit since his return from injury)

If Luke Dorn is so bad how come he finished sixth in the list for try assists in SL this season? Orr finished top. Dorn is a finisher, put him through a gap or a ball through to chase and he will score more tries. We have not had the offloads this season to create enough chances for him and as regards the kicking. Salford tried to play him as a playmaker, as Wigan did with Moran, they are finishers pure and simple. It is one of the reasons that our wingers haven't scored many, not many have been created for them by the centres or from kicks. Without Howell we have been toothless.

There is a lot of thinking to be done before next season.

Tony Rea found a way of integrating Dorn into a very exciting and productive back line.

Yes, he had a second stand-off playing at full-back. Dorn's very left-sided, McLinden was very right-sided, which is why McLinden-Dorn-Leuluai worked.

I like Dorn, he creates tries, he scores tries - though he is a bit of a flat-track bully.

In the absence of anyone new arriving, I would like to see Gale-Dorn-Orr together with Dorn or Gale at 1. Dorn needs to be hidden in defence and playing full-back would take him out of the defensive line. Then again, Gale looks like he would go better at 1 and is probably braver under the ball and a better kick returner.

Thing is McLinden was the only one out of the three who could control a game, take him away and the other two always looked a bit ordinary.

Marty could see the bigger picture, the other two were individuals who played in a team, and were given licence to have that individual role, because it worked for the team. Wigan and New Zealand have worked him out that you can't make him play like a regimented traditional 7 and Wigan actually use him to good effect. Dorn looked poor at Salford as he was reigned in, scored alot of tries at Cas, but still looked a little out of sorts, pretty similar to us last season, bag full of tries, but when we needed and experienced head, he didn't put his hand up.

So we try and move heaven and earth to lure Marty back? I'd love to see him playing for us again!

unfortunately it looks like he has been a real success in the Super 14.

This does not surprise me, he was a quality player not only with ball in hand but in his ability to read the game, pure class.
