| Has anyone suggested: London Ravens?
I understand it was the name of a gridiron team years ago but it has a link to London unlike Broncos, and they are black, like the Fulham kit.
I think a small time basketball club may have a similar name now but a couple of quid would get the rights off them.

| I'd be open if a business came along and offered the club big money to change the name/have an involvement in the club but I can't see Bill Gates taking an interest in a tiny Rugby League club anytime soon.

I like Ravens. At least it's A. Original and B. To do with London. However, I'd just rather we stayed as Harlequins, much better nickname than Broncos. I'd like Hughes to at least consult the fans before making his decision, that's something the club never seem to do. I know people are saying Broncos is linked to RL more than Quins, but we stopped being called Broncos 6 years ago now. How many people, besides RL fans, are gonna remember that name?
Anyway, as I said earlier, what's gonna happen to the Harlequins Rugby League foundation then? The 'London Broncos Foundation' just sounds stupid.
Awesome username by the way!

If you listen to the bbc london rl podcast this week you'll hear a very different opinion from someone who actually works for the harlequins foundation. He was very keen for a name change.

| Well, I listened to it. I heard nothing to change my mind from changing the name back from Quins. It was just the usual excuses being trotted out. "People see Quins and they think Union." How hard is it to distinguish between the brands, especially with "Rugby League" written in big, bold lettering underneath? It just sounds like the usual half-d Rugby League approach, as long as it makes your job easier, than it must happen. All you have to do is say, "no, it's Rugby League." I'm sure the school kids he was referring to, know that they were playing League instead of Union.

So the people that work in schools coaching RL are lazy and half d? Nice. I don't know how you can just dismiss the opinion of someone who actually works on the ground in London on a daily basis trying to bring the game to people.

Charlton was not ideal, too big, with no community work done. You could also quote the gate against PSG at Charlton, 9,638. Not a bad London side though, I think they would wipe the floor with our current squad.'"
This tells a different story. It was your second best league finish, and 2003 was only better because you won 5 out of the last 6.

I believe that 1997 (2nd) was the London teams best ever SL season. 96 (4th) was our second best and 2003 (5th) our third with a trip to St Helens for our first play-off appearance. 2005 (6th), our last year as London RL AKA The London Broncos was next with a trip to Odsul.

| Quote: nadera78 "Tooting and Mitcham United. Lovely little non-league ground, currently holds 3,500 speccies - and has an open piece of land alongside one touchline. Stick a new stand on it and extend a couple of other parts of the ground and you've got yourself an 8,000 plus capacity. And the owners have just successfully removed a limit on selling it that had been held by the fans. Decent transport, and not far from the current location so community work won't be affected. And the club has money problems so could do with the cash.
Tooting fans (all 300 of them) seem to think the owners might be angling to sell it to AFC Wimbledon.
Just a thought.'"
Great. Why not put the boot into another sports club (one that has existed continuously, and with a lot more stability than our own, for many more decades) when they're vulnerable. How few supporters does a rival club need to have before it's acceptable to walk all over them and take advantage of their situation? Tooting & Mitcham United FC isn't a failing club, it's in quite a healthy state, but unfortunately control of the club and the facilities at which it plays appear to have fallen into the hands of a person (or persons) who wishes to feather his own nest. There are a lot of non-league football clubs in the south east with 300 or so supporters - I support one of them myself and empathise with Tooting's supporters, several of whom are personal friends of mine - and if you try to kick them out of the ground they call their own I can guarantee you you'll get more than you bargained for, and rightly so. Don't even think about it.

| There's the slight matter of the planning permission clause that means the maximum gate at Imperial Fields is actually below Superleague minimum standards. Also, if people think Twickers is difficult to get to I'd love to see what they think of getting to Imperial Fields by tram on a Sunday.

Hehe....I wish! If I had breasts I wouldn't leave the house!
My point is that London needs to look like the new club (whatever we may be) has thrown up on it! Every possible thing has to have an advert for us on it...and oyster cards are one of them....just not some lame figure like 5000.....given out on the same day at one station....needs to be loads and over a period to build anticipation.
Again....the kit/logo and basic product has to be great...it would be a victory of some sorts in kids who knew nothing of rugby league were getting the shirt a) because it has London on it and b) because it was stylish and looks good.
