I walked off because it felt like he directing it at me.
I thought it was a good turn out and think its a great idea for the Broncos to spread their home games to other area's of the south east.
I thought the locals got behind London, BTW I was in with the Hull fans.'"
I suspect the "angry" fan was maybe someone who has followed the game maybe as far back as 1997 when the club first put down roots in West London and who feels slightly aggrieved that rather than spend money on marketing in West London, the club are instead spending money on promoting games 50 miles away....
It too believe the turn out was excellent and the promotional teams involved deserve a pat on the back. The only problem is that of the 2,000+ locals from Kent who turned up to support their local clubs and accompany the Kids as part of the "stampede" event organised by the Medway Dragons, maybe 20 will be in attendance at the Stoop on June 9th for the wooden spoon decider against Widnes.
OTR games are a great concept when utilised to promte the game in the area/region...alas, these 2 games smack of a move (another one) to try and build a fan base..........
Orient proved nothing......Gillingham even less.
6 Home games left in 2012......3 potentially close games in Widnes, Salford and HKA.........but also 3 hammerings in Wigan, Wire and leeds...........Let's see what the club does to attact fans to these games.

FWIW?
If I was the marketing manager at the club (rumour has it the club no longer have one......), I would immediately be booking 3 or 4 coaches from Gillingham to The Stoop on June 9th.
£25 return including a match ticket and a programme........200-300 fans......if it's well received, repeat it.
TOP TIP 1
Run the coach at COST.........this is not a profit making excercise, but a PROMOTIONAL ONE.
TOP TIP 2
Pay the Medway Dragons and local volunteers 15% commission on every ticket they sell.....£1,000 + in funds for the local RL scene, 300 extra fans at a Broncos game (7% of the gate).......
....Just a thought.....strike whilst the irons hot and all that!!

| So... We have (I think) the biggest gate of the season, although not really 'at home', and their still are complaints. Atmosphere wasn't great for the stand I was in till the last few stages, damn, stop complaining.

Seems they're advertising a deal where you can get tickets to 4 of the 6 remaining games for £30! Don't know how widely it will be advertised (Evening Standard, local papers in Kent and West London, posters on Twickenham station?) but it was in Sunday's programme - and is a good deal!

| Daft Dad is involved with Medway, lives that way and has a vested interest in that area, hence his provocative post!
I'm "embarrased" DaftDad as I didnt go(nor did I go to Orient) as did a number of other ST holders I know off. If it had been played in my back garden I would have sat in the front garden. The team is Sh*t. I hope those that employ Powell are equally embarassed. 2 wins all season. Leaking in 30-40 points per game (accepting yesterday it was only 14). I'm not after winning cups(although it would be nice) but I want to be entertained in my time off and thats not happening currently.
Daft Dad-discuss!!!!!

Tim of there has been 10,000 present there would have still been complaints or excuses that it was a one off! currently whatever the club does or says is never going to please a few here. It was not the result we wanted, I thought it may have just been over the 5,000 mark but it wasn't but I get fed up of the "Glass half empty" attitude continually from the few, at least some accept it is not perfect, things are not being done as quickly as we would like, but we will see what the review says rather than simply moan or complain all the time or tell us how they would run things!

| I knew we would bottle it when we I saw we were sponsored by Southern Water!
Same old, pattern, a good 30 mins, still in it at half time and then the away coach improves their tactics and we are left well behind. Lesson? SACK POWELL!

Not if you sit in the back garden acting like a glory hunter. My vested interest is that there is a SL team in London to support and without it, community rugby will be worse off and a valuable pathway for player development will be lost. There is no reason why Broncos should move from the Stoop but at the end of the day this depends on marketing in the local area. With your attitude though it would be wasted, get out and promote the game.

| Quote: gutterfax "It's these types of fans that the club needs to canvas for their opinions. Admitedly, they won't be interested in travelling too far from Kent to catch games, but it's their feedback that is vital to getting the message right.'"
Its taken the marketing mogul Gutterfax however many years to work out that people doon't want to travel too far away from where they live
Why don't I have a Season Ticket at Broncos? Why do I prefer to watch Skolars than Broncos?
Both have the same answer. Travel. Its two hours from Essex via the tube to get to Twickenham, so thats a four hour round trip to watch an uncompetitive shower of e, whereas Skolars is half hour by car and just over an hour on the tube and I've only ever seen them hammered once (against Widnes, then of the Championship).

| Why, thats the clubs job to promote the game. (I've encouraged 4 people to buy ST this year). Suddenly you've had a game on your doorstap, you local club has sent everyone to watch and now you've taken over GF's mantle as the RL marketing guru for the south of England. Will it be flowers on Gillingham high street and posters in the train station?
In my spare time I will make a choice with how I want to spend my time and money. Watching a team getting destroyed week in week out isn't entertainment.
See you in Manchester for a beer!
