| A tenner extra each for 7 people (whom I usually go down with) proves a bridge too far for me, especially for a game that is on Sky. None of us have any interest in watching union, so why should we pay for it?

Agreed....but then these are League Fans we are talking about and the fact that HKR fans can get in to the stoop a week earlier for £15 isn't going to help.
As for contacting the club........I seem to remember a few people contacting SKY/the RFL/Every SL Chairperson last year when the French game was moved......all good fun, but achieved SFA. Fan power is a myth and as Tre Cool says, £25 not the end of the world financially....but not good PR for a struggling club either.

Taking the p!!s isn't helping the situation - ready the bloody posts on here and elsewhere and you'll get an idea of the strength of feeling about this. To some of us £25 is a lot of money !!!!!!!

Might not be the end of the world, but proves costly for cash-strapped families going down, who already have to pay for travel and accommodation.

sorry, but cash strapped means feeling the pinch.....but not enough to still fork out for petrol, accommodation, food and a few beers.
If a family of 4 (with 2 kids on junior ST's) make the trip then it's an extra £30........I would suspect that a trip down with accommodation, petrol, food and beer would already cost in excess of £300...so 10% isn't life threatening.
I am not excusing what has happened, just pointng out the difference between cash strapped and poverty.

| Its not only the money side of things but the way Rugby League is treated with contempt. We were looking forward to our annual game down London (Weekend) for a league fixture on the 10th April, and not for a "shoe horned" fixture after a re-arranged union game.
We have been attending this fixture for the past 12 years, but sorry........the way this fixture has been managed is not on.

I agree....badly managed, but what can you do? If you really want to see inconvenience or financial penalties, try getting Sky to shift your game in France a few weeks before. Plane tickets, hotels etc....all useless. There were even Quins fans in the air ON THE WAY HOME last year when the rescheduled game kicked off.
As I said, not ideal and if you feel badly about it, then maybe you should get your club to have a word with Quins RL. It will make no difference, but at least you will have made your point.

| As you said there's a difference between cash-strapped and poverty, but in fact that 10% does indeed make a difference to families who are trying to save a bit of money, albeit they go and enjoy trips to watch RL occassionally. A lot familes do not fit the 'norm' of 2 adults and 2.4 children.

| I think it is more a case of principles rather than the near 75% increase in ticket price for most !!!
In my case because I'm self employed and have to work 7 days a week just to pay the rent and the taxman at the moment (my industry is not totally out of recession btw and sometimes I could go a week without work) it costs me a days pay + ticket + beer money + travel to watch a home game. Dedicated as I am at the moment to the Quins cause I will not have the p!!ss taken out of me by the club I give up my own personal time to support. Unless someone has a change of heart in the next couple of weeks and decides that there will be a reduced walk up price for the League game (this will help out the Saints fans scheduled to arrive just for the League game as well ) I will be going to work and trying to get an internet connection and cheering the lads on from afar !

Jesus wept....I was only pointing out the difference between cash strapped and on the bread line. Bottom line is you are getting the opportunity to see 2 games for £25 instead of £40. OK....if you don't want to watch Union, then either spend some time in Richmond or Twickenham, get to the bar early so you get a good view of the Grand National then take your seat for the League. If you can't afford the £25, then stay at home and watch it. I am amazed at the number of households in the UK that claim to be suffering poverty but have a sky dish on the roof BTW.
If you really feel that Quins RL are taking liberties, then contact the club and let them know......
FFS....It was so much easier having a go at the club rather than defending them ![DEPRESSED icon_biggrin.gifEPRESSED:](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//a054.gif)

| No-one's claiming poverty, I'm just claiming that an extra £70 as it would be my case is a bridge too far.
I will be contacting the club, and I will be watching it at home. First time I've watched a game against Quins/ Broncos at home since 2003 but there you go.

We will NEVER go to Quins to watch a match again mistakes I can forgive Ripoffs I can't!!!

Can't see why the club can't issue League Only tickets which wouldn't be valid until an hour before the league game kicks off. Which would probably be the time the ground would be opened normally anyway.

| Whilst I have a degree of sympathy with this one for the travelling Saints fan - particularly as there will be room at 6.00 and it should be possible to sell some additional tickets solely for the League game I don't feel that £25 is an issue where the price is compared to prices at the crumbling GPW stadium. £19 (£17.50 in advance) to stand on those dilapilated terraces and £24 (£22.50 in advance) in the stand. So £25 for the facilities at the Stoop stacks up pretty favourably to me.

Shock horror, Paddock defends the actions of the club!
I'm sorry mate but this is utter madness regardless of any comparison. St Helens supporters are being charged £10 more than every other away supporter for no reason whatsoever. If I got charged £10 more than a Wigan supporter did to go to Knowsley Road I would be livid.
How about you give the OP £10 on the day to make up for it, seeing as £10 is obviously nothing to you?

Fair comment, BUT after travel costs, ticket costs. etc. It was the food costs that took me aback the most.

And there was me being nice to you on Saturday. How did I defend the club when I said that I had sympathy and then compared the prices at St Helens dump of a ground with the Stoop.
I agree that there should be a way of selling RL tickets at our normal prices for admission after say 5.00. However I would guess that there is some legislation crap/health and safety reason. We know without a shadow of a doubt that there will be plenty of Union people who will not be there at 6.00 but in theory they may still be there so I guess the red tape crap probably means that the club can't do it.
You would have thought that it could operate a bit like Wimbledon where they resell the centre court tickets as people leave. I would happily volunteer my services to do that if possible on the day - I'm sure you'd join me Listy.

Answer me this - do you think it is acceptable for the club to charge an extra £10 for something that St Helens supporters won't even attend, when there are perfectly logical solutions of charging them the normal price? Yes or no.

| This highlights how much we are the Union clubs bitch. They flex in on OUR matchday because they can't find a suitable day to play their game, try and point out how we somehow benefit from this double header then screw visiting supporters as well as non-season ticket QRL fans. If I didn't have a season ticket I wouldn't be going. It absolutely stinks.
