An absolute animal forward who seemed to lead the pack, very vocal, made average players around him look better and probably had a massive influence on the LMS' of this world. In short, everything our team lacks and Purdham - good player though he is - specifically is not.

He was a guy you want on your team, for sure. But when stood next to Tookey in a defensive line, it was line breaks aplenty for the oppo!

On topic, bitching players means a clearout is needed unfortunately. Anyone who's played any team sport knows this. Depressing. 2010 will go the same way it seems.

I think you're bigging him up a bit too much there. He wasn't that good. Fairly nasty person who liked to put in a few fairly borderline shots throughout his short career at the club. Not a particularly great player - personally I would rather have a player of Purdham's class and quality in the team than an average second rower who liked a fight.

I prefer Purdham, but Williams gave us a bit of an edge that we lack at the moment, a bit of nasty can be useful.
