I'm not questioning Barnet FC, their owner or their marketing department. I am questioning whether there will actually be anything different from the London Broncos then there has been in the past six or seven years. For me, with the two in charge at Broncos still, I can't see a change and can't see anything else but the lacklustre marketing attempts they've tried and failed with before.
It is something I think the proposed Supporters Trust should be pushing. I'd want to know what is going to be different at Barnet, what they're going to do to get people through the gates, whether they're going to integrate in the local area and what makes Barnet better than Twickenham or anywhere else the club has played but I do think it may be too early for these questions.

| It could be harder to draw in fans on reflection, Harrow is a majority Asian area, Edgware is a Jewish area and Burnt Oak is Central African/West Indian.
Not demographics you usually associate with RL fans so it will be challenging.

| I've played Rugby with and against all of these demographics in and out of London. I also saw and was part of a multicultural mix of peoples at Wembley recently at the Big Hit. Is there a particular demographic you associate with Rugby League? Not in this day and age I hope and not in London! Youth participation in both codes of Rugby and in most sports is incredibly diverse particularly in London. Hopefully the fan base as it develops over the coming season and future years will reflect this.

| I've played a bit and it always struck me as a sport that didn't seem to attract Asian kids at all. West Indian origin yes quite a lot but African and Jewish also seemed to show little interest, I open to being proved wrong though.

| Some good points discussed. I have also played with a diverse group in London in both codes.
It's like football, there are not many Asian or Jewish players playing professionally, but the 3rd generation love the game as I see many using the Hive Community astro pitches. Maybe a few free games to locals will make them see how technical and skill full the game is and we will see more diverse fan base hooked to this great game.
We have an Asian professional in our team in Mike Bishay right? Plus, the Head Coach of London Skolars; John Mbu is of African descent I believe.

| We need to have some form of community day, not aimed at current supporters but to invite locals along, meet players, get autographs, see a training session etc, get them to feel part of what we want to develop.

| ah classic broncos view!! all our troubles are going to be solved by the locals to where we play!
We are LONDON rl, not Barnet rl, not Richmond RL, not Brentford, ok we used to be Fulham but even then I doubt that the fan base were from Fulham.
Our fan base and our target audience is much wider.
Don't get me wrong trying to get the locals to embrace the club has to b good, especially when it comes to having to build the new stands when we are maxing out everyweek!!!!!!!
This is why our marketing is so difficult, our target area is not just North London or West London in my view its the whole of the south of the country.
Back on thread though, if the shocking thing happened and we started winning a few games, very easily you could get to the point where getting in could become a problem

| I would imagine an intimate ground with 5k sell out would actually be quite good.

Good point, well made.
re:The 5k sell out possibilities. Will be great for atmosphere and make every game epic hopefully.

Lol, exactly this. Saracens Players have said what a great difference a small intimate near full 10k Stadium at their own new ground Allianz Park, has been compared to a quarter full 17k stadium at Watford FC.
Fingers crossed we get a great atmosphere at every Hive games as a great matchday experience despite results could get more people to fall in love with our club.

Yep...because handing out free Oyster Card Holder across town at Canary Wharf paid dividends
I don't disagree with your sentiment BTW, but the reality is the club don't have the time nor, I suspect, the funds to promote themselves across London and the SE. What we have is 13 home games to get enough interest from the public to convince a new investor/new investors of the potential in the club.
These 13 games could deliver 66,300 fans......I'd be happy if we got 60% of that and the reality is that the best chance of getting the 3k average this season is from people within a short trip to the club, regulars, ANZACS, Big Hit attendees and Ex-pat northerners.
Personally, I doubt much will be achieved without the buy in from both the (by now, very ed off) volunteers and the local amateur scene.
Get the investment secured beyond 2015 and THEN worry about the wider audience
