They're tough at home and we're lacking a halfback. I don't think it's that bad. How much longer is O?Beirne likely to be out for ?

| Ref should have given the lad for the second yellow. Poor decision making at times but yes I agree there isn?t that much of an issue apart from needing a strong half.

| I remain a tad confused. While money may be an issue, we have 2 DRs with SL teams & yet we can't get hold of a 7 with some experience. Binks may well benefit in the long run but the club needs that experience now.
Will never understand why League allow the Ref to decide if 2 yellows are serious enough to upgrade to a red. It then becomes a subjective issue rather than an objective one. Wouldn't have made any difference though as we battled to score 0. Thank heavens we failed at that too.

| 3 injuries in the game. That'll do for us won't it?
And another interception try given away on a pass towards the left edge. We've def done that against Google, Fev maybe Bradford and other games too now! I suppose this one was a last minute panic but it's becoming a bit predictable.

Not sure it was in the final knocking of the game. We were reticent about passing out wide generally and a bit disconnected and loose with the ball. This game had Ritson last minute intercept try for a 6 point win written all over it but sadly that wasn?t how it was in reality. We knocked at the door constantly 2nd half but didn?t take the points. They took 2 routine kicks to get 4 in the lead 1st half. Walker fumbled to let them ad 6 more and we just couldn?t break them down. We tried half heartedly to pass out wide got caught out and didn?t have enough gas left to stop them from scoring.Defensively we are strong but it?s attritional and we have such a small squad pretty soon we won?t be able to put out 17. Next up is Halifax who literally don?t have a pot but keep winning. Effective Dual reg? I don?t fancy us for it much. The Sheffield and York home games in May look crucial.

| Thoughts reading others' posts and views watching on the TV today?.
The reluctance to go wide, the disconnected play, the half-hearted execution? All of that was on show again today. We saw plenty of sets in decent field position, but no one willing (or able?) to throw something sharp enough to break the line. No cohesion on the edges. It?s like we?re running plays from memory(!!!), not instinct. That bit about fearing a Ritson-style intercept is spot-on too: we look nervous every time we try to move the ball quickly. There?s no conviction, just a sense that it might go wrong, so we pull punches.
Walker?s fumble? That echoes today?s errors. We?re not being blown away by teams, we?re undoing ourselves, and with our squad size, there?s no luxury for that. And the defensive grit mentioned is real, but it comes at a cost. Attritional defence with a thin squad is a ticking time bomb. Today?s three injuries just bring that closer to the surface.
That comparison with Halifax cuts deep. They?ve got nothing but keep finding a way. You look at us, supposedly professional, with a Super League hangover, and yet we?re stumbling around without a clear identity or any edge. If Halifax are overachieving, we?re underdelivering.
And the looming fixtures? Spot on again. Sheffield and York are now not just ?winnable? - they?re must-win. Lose those, and we?re staring down a miserable mid-season where injuries, fatigue and morale start properly biting.
So yes, today?s loss isn?t an isolated disaster. It?s the same story we?ve been watching unfold, just with a slightly different setting. The forum posts nail the mood. We?re close, but not close enough. Structured, but not dangerous. And unless something changes fast, ?being in the game? won?t be enough to keep us in this league.
Edited to remove all the '?' that appeared instead of apostrophes. Very weird.
