Given the earlier feedback from Viking Man, it will be interesting to follow Jonny's progress at Widnes.

After watching him play for us, I've wasted enough time on him already.

I'm not questioning your impression of Jon Grayshon in any way. However, I do remember a home game last season when Brian McDermott brought Jon Grayshon on from the bench and then took him off after less than five minutes on the field, after he dropped the ball once.
You may say, "Good call by the Coach. Take him off."
However, I found myself wondering if this was the ideal way to build a player's confidence.
Hopefully, Jon Grayshon will be fare better at Widnes.

| Rugby league 56 are you a social worker or work in some other namby pamby Government dept?
Just curious- its funny how you create an impression of someone so early on these boards
Johnny G was not SL standard-period- sod confidence - if he cant hold a ball get rid. Not dissimilar to sunbed Sam Thompson who if you watched Barrow last night looked as if he had greased his hands before he went on-its a Widnes thing.
Quote Agent Cullen- Deep exit sets-translated means drop it in your 20 zone!!

As it happens, I'm not a social worker and don't work in some other "namby pamby Government dept", as you put it.
Did you intend me to take your comment as a personal insult? In this context, having been advised separately, under the Brian McDermott thread, to read the AUP, I'm now wondering if your comment contravenes Policy 2.1, namely "Comments that are wholly designed to upset or cause distress to other members are prohibited on this site"?
For what it's worth, I subscribe to a couple of beliefs neatly summarised in two quotes from Ralph Waldo Emerson:
(1) "There is no limit to what can be accomplished if it doesn't matter who gets the credit."
(2) "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm."
I also try to see the best in people and situations. I find this more helpful than seeing the worst in people and situations.
So it's inevitable I would wish Jon Grayshon all the best at Widnes. After all, why would I wish him to fail there?
The good news is that he seems to have made an excellent start, if Viking Man is to be believed.
A fresh start, under a different coach, could be the best thing for Jonny.
Do you really want him to fail at Widnes? I find this hard to believe.

If I were a social worker or worked in some other namby pamby Government dept, what difference would this make to my participation on this forum?
Are social workers and namby pamby public servants somehow barred from being fans of Harlequins Rugby League?

| I think our run of 4 losses in a row has taken its toll on the site- our defence has gone on the pitch and our humour gone on the board

I can see that the humour has gone on this board, but I'm not so sure that our defence has gone on the pitch.
Watching our home game agaist the Giants, I felt our weakness was in attacking rather than in defence.
Your thoughts?

| I wholeheartedly agree. The 3 sets we had on there line had no cutting edge, made worse by them breaking away, with the help of a penalty and scoring on the next set!!

I fully agree with your observations.
Any thoughts on what our team could have done diffently in the circumstances?

Maybe I could turn the question around.
If you watch Saints they have a set attacking pattern, similarly Leeds etc. Could you explain to me how Quins attack from within 30 meters of the opponents line. I haven't worked it out.
Admittedly in recent games we have been short of players but last night we scored a crash try, an interception etc, against Wakey away our tries came from half breaks in the forwards whereas Wakes first try (Brough from 90 meters) came about due to a misunderstanding in a Quins attacking move 5 meters out from there line. Then Hudds which we are currently discussing.
For me the answer is to create a club way of playing ie firsts, seconds and academy. Then when you move between teams nothing is new. Saints have used the same attacking pattern for years although coaches have changed. TR used to favour getting into the middle of the park towards the end of a set offering both sides to attack which stretches defences, particularly if you load a side unexpectedly (like Catalans last night with Greenshields from the scrum moves)
So for me the answer to your question is create attacking patterns which all players understand-what are your thoughts?
