Was he not Ernie Clays gardener, he got roped in to help out and ended up doing football and rugby. His commitment was such that occasionally when he due to train times he ended up sleeping at railway stations to get to games.

He leaves a big shoes to be filled.

We’ve had the pleasure of quite a few former players coming to games in the last couple of years. Without exception destination one is the changing rooms to talk to Steve. He embodies the truism many seem to forget that a club is much more that the person or people who happen to own it at that particular time. Despite the continuing decline in the Club over the last few years the Broncos are unique; supporting them is a unique experience; and many of the aspects that make this a reality are difficult to define - UNTIL THEY’RE GONE.

Unfortunately, there are no constants in this world, so maybe don’t be so surprised or try to read to much into this, no one goes on forever, but yep shame to see him go. Hope if he comes to watch he gets a free ticket to every game, the bloke has been a good servant to the club.

I would have expected the club to have made an official announcement regarding Steve, thanking him for all he has done for the club etc.
It shows the club in a poor light, for not having done so.

Sad news if correct about SM.......I would be happy to contribute if there were to be a collection to present him with a token of our appreciation.....other than the waste that was MacKay he was the only one left in the dark off season of 13/14......

One was replaced by a plant and the other replaced by an air conditioning unit. As you will have noticed both the plant and air con unit have done a far better job bringing in sponsorship etc.

Which begs the question why the 2 departed were employed at all.

Steve’s reason for leaving, we’re 2 fold. He got frustrated at what he called lack of ambition at the club, shown by the failure to fix simple things which frustrated him, Trailfinders had a new facilities guy come in, Steve spent a day with him on a game day pointing out the issues, lots of notes taken but nothing happened, so he decided he could not contribute anymore.
And he decided he had done his time.
Nothing to do with any management of the team or any backroom fighting.

Everything to do with management, they are the ones that set up the contracts for facilities and manage the day to day business interface. Steve was an end user, and as a consequence of either mis- management, lack of action by mgt and/or lack of business communication he left.

Root cause was lack of mgt action in one form or another (given the information you have provided). Steve is the doer not the decision maker. He raises issues, mgt action them if appropriate Do you see the difference? Maybe I shouldn't have asked that question given your reasoning and lack of understanding of business responsibility.....and you default setting of defending the business.

Can’t really see where I am defending the business, I said it was nothing to do with management of the team, Or any in fighting or general disquiet. And I didn’t defend anyone merely stated his reasoning.
