Most players have a get-out clause in their contract should a SL club come calling. Even if they don't it's not a great idea to force a player to stay.

Now I have no idea if Battye wants to join us or stay with you. I do know however that you won't get any cash from us. Walker as a player swap is just press nonsense, we can't make him leave any more than you can make Battye stay.

It's not up to you is it, that's the point, from what I'm told Battye has a get-out clause. That said I do think he has a loyalty to London, something that makes me like him even more but SL is a draw for any player.

If you had created Battye from your Academy team then you would and should get compensation but you didn't. You signed an under the radar player from Sheffield and struck lucky. Well done but your reward was what he did or does for you, it's a bit rich to expect cash on top.

We deserve compensation for Johnstone should he leave before his contract is up. We don't deserve compensation from the brilliant Tanginoa as we like you struck lucky on a fringe NRL player in this case.

I don't think I'm being unfair, the days of transfer fees are long gone, they are now very rare and much as I rate Battye he certainly doesn't fall into that category. Still, if you think you can get some brass then go for it.

In tonight’s fans forum at Trinity our CEO said no news on Battye. So in his language that means there is an offer on the table and he’s optimistic, doesn’t mean it’s a done deal.

Why is it a bit rich to expect some payment for him. He is under contract, why should we just let him go?? You want him, you should compensate us for our loss.

As for "struck it lucky". Not our fault we saw something in him and took the plunge, other clubs could have gone for him. He is now a better player than when we signed him, that is down to him being here.

If Battye leaves he joins a poor SL team that will be battling with Leigh and HKR to prevent relegation.

I think most players would still choose SL over championship. Especially when championship has not played for months.

Depends on whether they're full or part time and any job outside RL. Sheffield went downhill pretty fast when they moved to FT a few years ago and many of their better players left because they didn't want to give up the day job.

Time will tell, but I fully expect Battye will be a Wakefield player by the time Super League kicks off.

Wakefield have been poor results wise for the last two seasons but have had a dreadful run of injuries and most recently Covid absentees. With a fully fit squad were not a bad side, like all, could do with a bit of luck.
