Who remembers Mark (Spud) Carroll. He came over with the intention to bash up a few pommies. Failed to do much at all.'"]
Carroll spent more time recovering from concussions than actually playing for us! Made himself a target with his claims on arrival, and more or less every team had a player waiting for him.
I seem to remember John Timu signing at the same time, with an equally impressive reputation, and being disappointed with him too. Excellent defensively, but didn't create a a great deal. Felt at the time like we'd paid for two reputations rather than the players we actually got.

| WQ finishing with 12 on the pitch does not necessarily mean 5 injuries.
It just means that no interchanges were left to put a replacement on for injury at the end of the game.
Use all 10 before the final hooter then any injury is going to result in numbers on field dropping so could have ben just one injury not the 5

| Remember Timu and Caroll well and again agree. There was another player who came over but I cant remember his name. Someone on here will help me. He had his first run out at Batley when we played a CC round and I thought our team kit reminded me of the Kellogs cockerels. It was rotten weather and at the end of the game you seriously couldn't tell which team was which. He had come back from an horrific facial injury and jumped into the crowd at one game and threatened to lay a couple of supporters out for shouting how bad he was and upset his family who were sitting in front of them. Think his name was Richie or something like that. Was supposed to be great but I think his best days were pre his injury.

Richie Barnett. He was fantastic in his first season for us in 2001 at The Valley (which was post his facial injury) but then was out for a while in 2002 (perhaps the start of his Chronic Fatique Syndrome but not sure we knew that at the time). I remember he came back as a sub at Griifin Park to play for us against Hull FC (who he had already signed with for the next season). It was a close game (we won 10-6) and at one point he dropped the ball near our own line. Not sure if it led to their try but comments from the crowd on his efforts upset his wife who was sitting nearby.

| The club under Branson opened up the chequebook and signed three antipodeans. Dalton ( Jason Hetherington.).Richie Barnett and Jimmy Dymock. How nice it would be to be signing players like them these days.

Sadly I doubt any major player would come to us.

Sadly I think there's no more money for anything other than wage thief's willing to tell Dave how great he is and how fantastic Wimbledon is going to be.

| See another Super League match cancelled, Salford v Wakefield, in fact also the Salford's next game as well, and earlier this week Casttleford v St Helens! How many NRL games have been cancelled, how many Euro games as well!

Castleford, St Helens awarded a 24 - 0 win because Castleford did not meet the the covid rule but could not put a team out because a low number of players with covid and the number of injuries they have
.

| Lookibg at NRL and Euros as a comparison again is not like for like. Covid rates in aus are nothing like covid rates in UK so likeoyhood of losing enough players to justify cancellation much less. As for euros, scotland lost their main playmaker due to covid, but its not like a club where you only have limited numbers.
RU sufered a number of fixture losses due to covid.
French domestic league have lost games through covid.
Tennis and golf tournaments have been effected.
The cas one is interesting, they had to forfeit, they have a number of junior players with covid but because they are not in senior squad it cant be classed as a covid game cx.

Quite a few coatal place# in coastal Australia are in lockdown again, they ar3 worried about the new variant, a country like Australia only to have delivered 5% of population, and getting closer to there winter, yes it's not like for like!
In recent weeks at the end of the season I Friday not see many RU major games cancelled to COVID, and I do follow the game.

| So aus new cases reported today, just over 300. Uk today 26000
So chances of cancellation of NRL game a lot lower.
As for RU not sure what yr point is? Believe RU even had internationals postponed.
Or are you suggesting that because RU had no games cancelled at back end of season that RL clubs are making up positive tests?
