Possibly not but competition for places is all important
The one area we have little if any competition is half back and this is where we are weakest, least experienced, and as shown last week, a decent/experienced half wins you games at this (and probably every) level.

| I thought Foster was the best of the Leeds loan signings by a considerable distance. Seemed to have a good attitude.

1649_1338292262.jpg I have followed the LONDON CLUB since I was in my teensl even though born in St Helens and still live nearby and went to the first game at Fulham, also Big West Ham Supporter:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_1649.jpg |

| I don't know much about Andy Ackers in his time at Swinton, just know he is one of the many young players Wigan have produced.

| Thought Ackers came from Warrington??
Not sure what to make of the signings so far. For me we are lacking -
Experience
A couple of big ugly brutal forwards who can dish it out when we are getting bullied/beat up
Good half backs to guide the team around
Hooker
On the Experience front, the players coming in are still on the young/inexperienced side really. Think Offendhal is the oldest at 27 but really has not played at the top level anywhere. Stapleton has played NRL. The others all are youngsters without a real amount of games under their belt.
Forwards - Don't know a great deal about Offendhal as a player, maybe he fits the bill?? Battye not sure he can be classed as the "Big monster prop" type
Halfback - Leatherbarrow could fit the bill.
Hooker - Ackers joins Cunningham but both only 21/22. Big ask for them.
Looking at this think I am saying that I am not sure we have really addressed the issues we all know we have as yet. Hopeful a few more still to come in.

We're not all Southern Softies: |
|
| Don't know much about Ackers but sounds like he has a good pedigree & will allow Hendo to concentrate on his coaching.
Very pleased about signing Alex Foster.
Thought he did well in his time with us, I had a good chat with him at Blackpool & he said he would jump at the chance to come back down to London again. That's the type of player that we need, who wants to play for the Broncos & Hendo seemed impressed with him & has an idea of where he sees him playing.

| Underwhelming to say the least. Hughsey said our squad will be the strongest in the league, unless he has a few rabbits in his hat, I'm not sure where he is coming from.

I take it he does know that Leigh are still in our league (and Bradford, and, Sheffield...)

cartoons/WB24.gif Life is pretty simple: You do stuff. Most fails. Some works. You do more of what works.:cartoons/WB24.gif |

| Our chances of some 'big' name signings disappeared a while back, so not sure what people are expecting. It will be players looking to prove themselves, make an impression and help us move forward or maybe get a bigger gig elsewhere. Well that's probably the theory. Foster and Ackers fit that bill and hopefully Hendo sees something in them. We at least know Foster can hack a few weeks away from home. And would the owner say anything but positive things about next season?
In terms of signings are we planning for a faster game rather than just the grind up front?

Am I permitted to agree with you without it being classed as Hughes bashing? I would imagine that as he's spending to the cap he believes he's going to get quality players.

Its not so much "big" names, but Broncos have said we will be spending to the cap this season. Looking at the squad, where is all the money going then?? Are we paying over the odds for some players?? Compare with the rest of the teams in champ is there that much of a difference?? If we are paying to the cap I would expect on paper at least a very strong championship squad, currently I would say it is a fairly average/decent Championship squad
Re the game plan, I was worried last season when I heard Grima say it will be a "skills" based team. That is fine but you need to earn the right to play that way, impose yourself on the oppo and then let loose. If we don't bulk up upfront we will find ourselves going up north and getting battered again. I would be amazed (and disappointed) in we don't bring in some grunt

| I should think Henderson has his work cut out trying to get anyone to play on a park in the most expensive rugby league area there is.
