Being in the U20s, playing reserve grade is a step UP, not down as you stated. 3. He would be on his U20s contract which means he would have to either be in study or working which is an NRL policy. 4. The recruitment process of a club that wasn't 100% sure it was going to be around until a short time ago yet were still hunting round for players for months is not inept. 5. You don't know what's going on. So keep schtum and stop chucking your usual dung at the club. 6. Wait until the club tells us what's going on as it says it will, in the antipodes as it doesn't affect our lives.
FYI, I'm surprised you didn't have a go at the club because we missed out on signing a Manly prop (in yesterday's Syd Daily Tele), who decided to stay in oz because his wife's just had a baby.'"
I only asked for confirmation that a great deal of U20's don't make the NRL......as for the rest of your post, step, up/sideways or backwards, the Kiwi-Tongan kid didn't warrant a mention in dispatches for anyone in 2013, the reasons the clubs future was unsure are well documented and regardless of them, the situation we are in is 100% of our own making and I know a fair amount about what has gone on before and if the club weren't so ing analy uptight and secretive there'd be no need for speculation.
For months we were fed bollox about "top secret negotiations" when in fact, we were being ed over by the owner of Barnet with the complicit assistance of our CEO...the big secret was we were renting another ground AND letting the landlord keep all the takings...inspired
Until the RFL confirm what is happening at the end of 2014 (relegation and if so how many) London really can't offer anything to anyone other than 1 year because anything above 14th this year would be better than Lazarus picking up his bed and scarpering.
Still......you keep defending the club and for some reason, lean on my speculations whilst ignoring others. I am sure you have your finger on the pulse of the clubs recruitment and we will be sunned at the quality of the recruits we manage to get. I mean to say, going on the new guys so far, things can assuredly only get better

| If you are looking to loan players out, presumably you expect them to develop by experiencing first team football. Hopefully when they return they will have learned from their experience. I am having difficulty in understanding how being loaned to a rag tag and bobtail "team" that is, on past experience of the coaches ability, going to be unfit, disorganised, lacking incentive, and getting hammered every week, will aid in young players' development. Someone please explain....

| Quote: gutterfax "
the "heaviness" of recruitment is open to question.
Exhibit A.
Nesiasi Mataitonga. 2012 Under 20's Cronulla player who played 10 games that season, who seems to have dropped down to reserve/part time grade in 2013 is our first confirmed overseas player. If this guy is on "big money" then it shows how inept the recruitment process is at the club...he is one of very many NRL U20's that don't make the grade (Rooster will back me on this) who drift into the part time/second string comps...he is not a top dollar investment!
Exhibit B.
Nesiasi Mataitonga is indicative of the standard of player left available to the club. Regardless of when the discussions started, unless we are paying transfer fees, then all we have are Nesi types and loanees from the NRL who may be on wages that their clubs would be happy for us to pick up.'"
1. You said dropped down to reserve. YOU ARE WRONG.
2. If he is on big money then it show's how inept etc. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH HE'S GETTING, SO YOU SPECULATE
3. People who don't make the U20s, don't always drift "back" into part time. RESERVE GRADERS for NRL CLUBS CAN BE PART TIMERS. YOU ARE WRONG AGAIN.
4. Nesi is indicative of the standard of player left available to the club. ACCORDING TO THE SYDNEY MEDIA WE TRIED TO SIGN A MANLY PROP WHO PLAYED IN THE GRAND FINAL. YOU ARE WRONG.
See the pattern?
You only asked for confirmation that U20s don't make it to first grade. But you need to be pulled up on how wrong what you are telling people on here actually is.
Is disagreeing with you or pointing out when you don't know what you're on about now known as "defending the club" by the way. Then you resort to sarcasm because you've been shown up for not knowing about players. Ring your batphone to Gus and ask him. You've mentioned on many occasions you have one.

Since neither of you go to home games why don't you both calm down and worry about something that actually affects you.

Any team can fail to sign a Manly prop. It's no indication of the standard of players available to the club.

I like what Sean Long had to say... he speaks a lot of sense and can hopefully put together a team on the pitch that can trouble other SL teams. He is very right - it's not just signing big name players, but getting those players that have something to prove and will work their backsides off for the team.

According to Nigel Wiskar in his latest mirror column www.mirror.co.uk/sport/rugby-lea ... ss-2963574 we have signed a prop; Michael Stewart. Who he you ask? (although that is difficult to believe). None other than last year's University of Gloucestershire All Golds captain!

Only saw it today and didn't notice that. Not sure it makes it wrong and it is a good read anyway. I can't recall seeing the bloke mentioned here or elsewhere before.

| Good to see news posted (2 articles in one day no less), but it does beg the question as to whether the club web site is now redundant?......or is this an element that will be taken over by the Barnet admin team?
The Long article on the BBC website is the first official statement I have seen that he has been given the assistant coach position.

| Good read from Sean Long. I'm hoping he will be able to pass down some tips and wisdom onto Bishay and JWH and turn them into great halves for us. It's good to have a 'big' name on board at the club as well, who would be recognizable to non-RL fans.
