| Dixon for me, take the point about Gower being peeved with losing but showing appreciation of people who pay to support the team wouldn't go amiss.

| Awards are always difficult though, aren't they? There are plenty of people who put in a lot of effort but will never win an award (Melling for example).
The BBC Sports Personality OTY is an example...wonder exactly what the criteria is...winning stuff and/or being popular? Going to be difficult this year with so many outstanding achievements in the Olympics.
Gutters...the Players award isn't going to be silverware (pedant mode) Get what you're saying though, but there isn't going to be a full-on players award thingy, which I agree wouldn't seem right after this season's debacle.
If Gowers as petulant as some on here think, could be a bit risky giving him a glass tankard if we lose to HKR....

| Quote: "Sorry Rosie, just because he doesn't come and kiss the fans at the end of a game shouldn't detract from the fact that he has been our oustanding player on the pitch by a country mile.
Look at the stats....they will tell you who has given his all on the pitch.
Then again, are we voting for what players have done on the pitch or is it more a question of who smiles or doesn't mind having their photo done?'"
I really couldn't care who smiles and has photos taken, signs autographs or spends time with fans. I dont go to the game to neck gallons of lager or mix in the bar with players afterwards it's each to their own. I go to the game to hopefully see a professional game of rugby league which happens to be a game I love. There haven't been many games this season which fall into that category. And to add fuel to the fire I would prefer the supporters award to go to someone who acknowledges those very people. I don't entirely disagree with your comments and I did say in my opening post that either Gower or Melling would also be strong contenders due to the effort they put in each week . However, I don't feel Gower relates to supporters so would he really appreciate a supporters award. I think Dixon would appreciate it more. I appreciate Gower doesn't like losing none of us do. I appreciate he is a great player but I also appreciate it is bad sportsmanship to walk off and not shake the hand of the opposition. Just my thoughts.

| Rosy-never have a read a post that contradicts itself more than that nonsense.

| I guess it would be a fair and valid criteria if you based your choice on good club/supporters man and good on the pitch.
My choice is based purely on who has done the most for the team on the pitch so for me, it has to be CG (do agree he is a bit of a misery!) Wonder if he'll be sweetness and light if we win every week? (Not that we will ever get to find out!)
