| Quote: poplar panther "TR's strength is that he knows London RL history, he know what the problems are. He is better with the fans and also has a handle on how the club should be run. I was a big critic of him as CEO but I am sure he has learned from that as well.'"
So in answer to my simple question what has Tony Rea achieved as a rugby league coach what does that mean?
I'm talking about cold hard facts, ie, trophies, bringing through youth players, challenging for honours, I don't care if they 'know the clb' or whatever the hell that means, that doesn't bring you results, sometimes you have to change and we really needed a change and we missed the boat, oh well at least we can bring back the good ol' days as London Broncos with Tony Rea as coach, they were brilliant were'nt they, I've got another great idea lets make another false sense of nostalgia decision and move back to The Valley, hey why don't we even bring Tony Martin out of retirement......ahhh the good old days.

1649_1338292262.jpg I have followed the LONDON CLUB since I was in my teensl even though born in St Helens and still live nearby and went to the first game at Fulham, also Big West Ham Supporter:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_1649.jpg |

| Tony is the best man available at present and from what I hear his man to man management on a personal basis is first class, working with some players individually, no one can fault the way he has turned the team around.
Also one journalist was indicating that Bobbie Goulding was in the running? as bad as the Kent story!

| Our youth teams perform much better than prior to him being coach
The youth programme didnt change under Mac it just became more mature as it will under TR. With the change in player emphasis, youth is more important at the club.
What had McGuire won before he became Wigan boss compared to Noble? Who produced the better results with similar resources?
Clubs up North will get more value from a max SC. It takes time to get to the top.

Could you please answer my question, What has Tony Rea achieved as a rugby league coach? It's a simple question, I don't care about how much he knows the clubs or if he helps old ladies across the street, just give me the facts.

Mcguire proved to be the right decision, he was part of what was at the time a world class set up and under the best brains in the game (Craig Bellamy) at the moment in the toughest comp in the world, that's the type of appointment we needed to make but we bottled it.

Is this the same Bobby Goulding who thinks that SL should be the preserve of the M62? Priceless!

simpsons/017.jpg Welcome Quins Kitties born 02.04.09 -
Purdo - Determined, loveable with a "can-do" attitude. A born leader.
Louie - Big, white and fluffy. A very noisy prop forward.
Harley- Cute and gorgeous (just like our no.9) Well, I couldn't call her Chad, could I?
Update on Quins Mogs :-
Purdo - deffo leader amongst Mogs. The Capo.
Louie - turned out to be more like Louie Spence than LMS. Re-named Judas.
Harley - Cute but not as gorgeous as our no.9.
Oh well, at least I haven't got a Willy.:simpsons/017.jpg |

| I completely agree with Pingwings comments.
I don't recall anyone saying RP was "The New Messiah" and I very much doubt that anyone on here is expecting TR to lead us to silverware anytime soon.
Fact is there a very few coaches that actually win anything.
Just a reminder, we did appoint a massively successful, trophy winning coach once....that went well (not!)

| Without knowing the applicants, it may be that TR was the best qualified.
He's alsoe worked in Super 14 for t three years, and I can't imagine he didn't learn from that.

| Exactly, Kit.
He's work with the Brumbies may have given him another strand to his coaching bow too.

| As a sports fan in any sport you have to be realistic, not everyone can be a winner! but you can be competative! Winning the grand final or Challenge cup for us and several other clubs eg salford, wakey, widnes, KR etc is highley unlikely at this moment in time
Being competative making the play offs or semi finals is realistically what our aims should be
The facts are we have a heavily weighted top end comp, with Saints/Leeds/Wigan dominant however it does change over time loom at Bradford and wire one on the up the other on the down.
We have a playing squad that could and should have made the top eight, why didnt we? well there were obviously massive problems in the camp and yep even i have to say now that was probably down to rifts between the coach and senior players.
What does TR bring to the club and why have we suddenly started winning? skills NO, fitness? no tactics? maybe! or is it an attitude change!
Are there better coaches out there? without a doubt, problem is they have to want the job, with TR he has the skills both in coaching and man management, and despite his initial comments that its only for a short period he actually wants to be here.
Dan has it right! we all said Brian Mac was a rubbish coach! and look where he is gonna be sat on Sat!
Did Powell not get SL coach of the month in his first month in charge? we all thought he walked on water

| I also remember Bobby Goulding say that London was an 'Aussie' club, classic.
The best thing about TRII so far has been the style, like nothing we have seen since the days of the golden triangle. I can't wait to see Sargy playing in such a way!

I was only stating that I feel at present Tony is best person for the job, we do not know all the applicants, such a Noble was highlighted as possible but I'm unsure if we would cut it now, his record with the Crusaders was not the best, look at how successful Monie was with Wigan!
If the players are working well with Tony Rea it makes common sense to give him the chance now to bring some stability to the club to try and build on, there are many coaches who have not achieved anything when they get posts, it is a case of working with the players you have.

| Quote: The Daddy "What the club really needed was to completely change the culture from a losing one, in my opinion Tony helped to create that culture.
Nothing that I saw before tells me that we won't be sitting here in a year or two years talking about chronic underachievement and wanting to get rid of the coach.
Lets not forget that when Brian Mcdermott came in he brought a lot of new initiatives to the club which wasn't there when Tony was coach, including training methods and youth programs, the football side of things wasn't brilliant and people on here are deluding themselves saying that Tony will bring back the good old days......what good old days?
When was this golden age that we had under Rea.......this is just a symptom of David Hughes knee jerk culture which he's created at London Broncos.......Epic Fail!!
When you change the culture of a club you have to do it in a radical way without sentiment, look at how ruthless Ian Lenaghan was with Brian Noble, in the end it was the right decision because look how Michael Mcguire completely changed everything there, that was the type of change we needed.....radical change, now I fear we've missed the boat just because we won a few games after a new coaching appointment which is normal.
Bad, bad decision.......as Marlon Brando said, 'We could've been a contender''"
So who would you have appointed then?
