Like a lot of Aussies he wants to see the world before he retires. Said this when he signed for us. London is the best base for doing that. Remember him saying he went to Wales one week already. He will probably go 'on tour' during the close season rather than return to OZ.
The guy is a quality player who will get us tries if we get him a good Centre like Lyons etc. He is wasted ATM but lets hope next season things change.

| Great news...like most on here I didn't expect him to stay....in fact, I expected us to lose 80% of the squad and play with an U20's next season...glad to be proved wrong!
Next signing we need is a main sponsor....we have 10 matches or so left of the season and an off season to get a company onboard....surely even if it's a one year deal with a company....some money is better than none!!!!!!!!!

simpsons/017.jpg Welcome Quins Kitties born 02.04.09 -
Purdo - Determined, loveable with a "can-do" attitude. A born leader.
Louie - Big, white and fluffy. A very noisy prop forward.
Harley- Cute and gorgeous (just like our no.9) Well, I couldn't call her Chad, could I?
Update on Quins Mogs :-
Purdo - deffo leader amongst Mogs. The Capo.
Louie - turned out to be more like Louie Spence than LMS. Re-named Judas.
Harley - Cute but not as gorgeous as our no.9.
Oh well, at least I haven't got a Willy.:simpsons/017.jpg |

Bit harsh, Taff. Bit hard for anyone to shine in our current state of affairs.
Phil Clarke said the other week that the Opta stats show him to be the top "exile" in his position in SL.
Anyway, I'm hopeful of improved performances allround next year as plenty of overseas players seem to struggle the first year in the UK.

Sorry, but I don't think it is harsh at all. No one doubts his pedigree, but I don't think we have seen much at all from him this season. He has been brought in as a senior player and as such has far less excuse about his performance than less experienced players. If we excuse every player from performing because of the chaos surrounding them, we accept mediocrity.
While he appears generally defensively sound, I don't think he has been any real threat offensively and seems to me to rarely do much more than the bare minimum when carting the ball out as full back. He rarely seems to break a tackle and my impression is of someone with a diffident attitude.
Btw are these the same opta stats which had Kirk Dixon in as one of the centres in the team of the week after his jaw droppingly awful performance for Cas against us at the Stoop?
Likewise I hope for an improvement next year, but it would be nice to actually see something this year. We have not had a good recent record with signing Australians and I don't actually think many of them have improved after settling in. I am not convinced a club up north would have given him a chance based on what we have seen this year so far.

We're not all Southern Softies: |
|
| Great news to have signed Scott & Michael for another 2 years.
If this pair can see a future in staying at the club, then there must be light at the end of the tunnel.
After all the depressing news & results, it makes a change to have something to celebrate.

this licence is for 20-12, 2013 & 2014......these players are now contracted up to the GF in 2014.
July 2014 is when we'll find out about the next 3 years....

This is what worries me. We have wings aplenty but no player has held down a centre spot this year. Robertson is a good player but an absolute luxury with four other wingers already signed for 2013. And pretty much a pointless re-signing if we continue with rotating Howell, JOC, Channing, Lovell, Sarginson at centre in the hope that one day it will work out. We badly need a quality right centre and I fear that Robertson's re-signing shuts out the possibility of an NRL centre coming over.
And Wheeldon signing up for 2013 is underwhelming.

Seriously, we've nearly re-signed the entire 2012 squad for another go in 2013. What's the definition of madness?

I think Robertson is a solid player but as you say, without seriously remedying the situation across the rest of the three quarters, he's left completely short-handed. We can only assume Phil Bailey has a handle on this, because we all know by now Powell bloody doesn't.

Interesting question for a poll. I've had a season ticket since SL 2. Not sure I would bother if Powell is still coach for 2013.
