| Think some very short memories here. He was one of our very best until injury and then a complete loss of form this year, i agree with Mr Lister.
On the disciplinary front he was sent off against Wigan 2 years ago, other than that no worse than anyone else?

| Quote: Dave Lister "People talk about the poor coaching of McDermott and Powell, but I think Howell is a prime example of where the skills and talents of a player have been coached out of him. Powell was one of the best centres in SL not so long ago - at one point, it was rumoured Wigan were in for him. I don't think he is finished in the long term - but under Powell and in this current side, perhaps so.'"
You're having a laugh. When he came to us it was with a reputation for being an average player who had better games from time to time, no NRL club considered him worth a proper contract. Yes he had a few decent games in his first season, but he's been consistently mediocre over much of his contract. The Goons might have looked at him (and passed on him) three seasons ago when they were trying to rebuild, but that doesn't mean much. When he signed his extention we must have been the best offer he had, which given the dearth of quality centres in the British game says it all.

I've never played, but if a member of the opposition tried to modify my teeth with his forearm, then I might be tempted.

| Just to clarify, Howells RFL record is as follows.....perhaps it is just the number of times he has been cited that gives the impression his record is poor.

No question of that, I've just watched the highlights from Sky again (god knows why), he clearly bites Marginet with about 28 seconds on the clock

It wouldn't be a valid reason to terminate a contract.
Anyway it is a reason to stick by one of our players and not convict them before the evidence is heard. This is only a charge, nothing has been decided yet. It could be like the other 11 times mentioned above.
If people can't remember David Howell some of the good performances he has put in then that says more about supporters memories than Howell's abilities as a player.
I imagine he has played all if not most of this season injured. It's not his fault we've got a weak squad with barely any strength in depth.

Not so sure, I suspect a lawyer could construct a pretty strong argument for Gross Misconduct and / or Bringing the employer into disrepute. Not necessarily saying he should go, I've not seen the incident so can't really comment, but if the club wanted him out over this it may well be possible now.

Les Treizistes 1 v 0 Paddock Punter
1 game ban, £300 fine. You saw it. Worth appealing?

At the risk of being accused of trying to defend the indefensible, what I saw was Howell tackled and held down with his mouth open shouting and Marginet then swinging his forearm into Howell's mouth. Howell may well have then reacted but I'd say he was well provoked. I've also seen plenty of earlier cases of alleged biting where the evidence has been no clearer than that and the accused has been cleared.
It will be interesting to read the disciplinary committee's detailed conclusion when they get round to posting it (and hoping they've learned how to spell Marginet's name). Watch this space: www.therfl.co.uk/disciplinary/item?3043

Well, you've signed Mark Bryant from us, that's for sure.
