| He actually played quite well against Cumbria and showed impressive hands on a couple of occassions in taking the ball and passing to his winger in the same movement.

Not bad for a professional rugby player!

If he passes to the winger he's got one up on Ryan Atkins already.

| You lot who are dismissing Clubb are fools.
He's been selected, it's a surprise but to go on and on about how useless he is (Dave), just stop.
He isn't useless, he is fast, his weakness is his defense. Which at times can be very good, but most consistently it is bad.
Have you lot not noticed the only time you notice the guy is when he is playing badly, you do not notice him at all if he plays decent.
Wow, how can you call yourself fans when you opening slag off your players who get called up for their country? You should be proud, he did come up with us.

Why does it make any difference if he plays for us or not?
If Craig Huby was called up for England, I'd say it wasn't merited because he wasn't good enough. Ditto Clubb. No-one can deny what a poor season he had in 2010, in comparison to previous years where he's looked far better. Maybe in future he'll get a call-up, and he'll deserve it. On this occasion he doesn't. Its got nothing to do with what club he plays for.

I can't decide who is the biggest fool here, you or Harlequin Gooner. You have said yourself (just about) and his defence is consistently poor. How can we select a player for England that is defensively poor?
I saw probably 75% of our games last season home and away and I cannot recall him having a "decent" performance. His errors are often unforgiveable and he does not seem to be learning. He is getting bigger, and slower.
Why don't you consider removing your Harlequins-tinted-spectacles and see this from the point of view of an England supporter? I have no loyalty towards any player when it comes to the England setup, all I am concerned about is England giving Australia and New Zealand a decent game.

| I kept waiting for him to jump out of the line on Sunday - but he didn't! We were jokingly saying that Rob should know to attack at Clubb and Cumbria would score. He played left centre in the first half and right in the second. Obviously the coaching staff have seen something they like or he wouldn't be going so to me that is the end of the matter.

| Not only did he score, but he created some space, and defended well. I thought he had a shout at being Man Of The Match, along with Joe Westerman (who I thought played better than Westwood). Most of the England players didn't impress, they did.

That's fair enough, and I hope he benefits from the experience. But I remain sceptical that there aren't better players in super league that could take his place.

| Playing with better players will help him, though he may get cruelly exposed. I think he is a second rower/potential prop and is being played out of position. If he pulls on a shirt he will get my critical support, everyone can and should improve IMO.
Well done for him for getting picked, make the most of it. He is now our best advert for Quins RL.
Anyone who plays pro RL is a hero to me, the effort and knocks they take are awesome.

| I have two opinions on this, one, from a harlequins supporter, I'm proud one of our team has managed to get himself into the squad.
Then I have my opinion on him playing for England. Personally, you could be critical, or you could see, Clubb, just like Louie, play with pride. Clubb will be proud to be representing England when he gets to pull on that jersey. He's scored for England twice in two appearences (Yes, Wales and Cumbria, but ohwell) He is physically big enough and strong enough.
Clubb's line defense isn't as bad as you all think. He misses most tackles when, like said before, he jumps out of the line at times to get a big hit. This obviously won't work against the big guns, as it doesn't work for SL. He is learning, I like to 'monitor' our players when I see them play. I like to almost rate them, so i watch who is making this mistakes, how the defensive line is, who's out of place, who's missing the tackles. You all think he really is a bad choice, he isn't. You put him outside of a touch second rower, thats effectively two second rower's together. It would work.
And Dave, you constantly go on and on about his speed. Give it a rest mate. He isn't that slow. He could out run you, he was faster when he was younger, but he was also a lot smaller in size, he's bulked up in the last few seasons (which is why everyone now see's him as a second rower), the fact is, he isn't slow. When he puts his head down he is surprisingly fast. For example, against Warrington(?) he got the ball and ran straight, many people were complaining he didn't pass, if you remember it from that. You could see his speed, his accelaration was surprisingly fast.
Just give it a rest mate.
