| Quote: daftdad "we will have new personnel next year. I reckon big mac will go to Bradford which will bring new ideas.'"
After listening to that. you couldnt blame Mac if did go to the Bulls and work with a bigger squad.
But what new personnel are talking here, from what i understand the club dont have the money to bring in anyone. I heard a rumour that Penny was after a 2yr contract for a 100 grand. Now i dont no if that was a 100 grand per yer or over two years(50.000 per yr). If it was the 50 grand then i think that says alot about the state we might be in if we couldnt offer that. If it was the 100 grand then i coudnt blame the club for saying no but still you think if there had been money about they could have reached some sort of deal, as i understand that Penny was only on £45,000 up at Wire.
And on the other side of the coin if Mac does leave your not going to get anyone to sign until they know who or what sort of coach they be working with. I remember afew years back when we signed Barnett and Dymock and the likes, they signed because they thought they were going to work with John Monie only to turn up and find Tony Rea in charge and to start with they wasnt very happy about.

| Harlequins head coach Brian McDermott said there would be no doom and gloom from him despite the scoreline.
McDermott said: "I thought Hull KR were very good and I don't think there was one area where we were particularly poor, I thought we were probably down in every aspect.
"But I did not think we were that bad, certainly not as bad as the scoreline would suggest.
"We had a couple of soft occasions in defence which made me angry but some of the mistakes are the result of the way we play.
"We play hot at times and we force passes but with that style comes loose ball and you lose possession but you have to deal with it.
"As far as effort goes I cannot fault the players."

| Agree with PP, it was not pretty to watch. The inconsistency of the team is as frustrating as ever. HKR were well deserved winners but were not as good as the scoreline suggests, they bombed a few scoring chances and so did we, but on the whole our performance was very flat. It`s worth remembering that we are very short of first choice players again, no sooner do we get Purdo back, LMS, Gale, Williamson, Esders are not available.....add Golden, BJB, Ben Jones to the list and we have the thinnest of squads. We can only replace these with inexperienced youngsters and we were never going to be able to match all the HKR imports for skill or size. Our more experienced players are trying hard (well done Karl T....it was a tough day for you yesterday), but they can`t do it on their own. Still it`s only Wigan next week !!!

I think this hits it on the head. We are that skinny and just do not have enough depth in the squad to cover more than one or two injuries and if the injuries are to key players then we have no cover at all. All this when even with our full strenght team we are not quite good enough. Overall I am dissappointed in what Mac has been able to do as I thought he of all people would have seen the most important thing to do is build a good strong forward pack that can dominate. Once you have this it is a little easier to find classier backs as they want to play behind stong forward packs.
I thought Mac would have the ability to turn some good forwards into great forwards but he just does not seem to be able to improve players at all.

| Hallmark no. 2 of the McDermott era: players stagnate or go backwards. No one ever seems to improve.
Do you remember a while back when he said that we'll have our run. I'm beginning to wonder if we have had it now: 3 super league games and one Challenge Cup game?

| Bottom 3 looms IMO. To compete for a top 6 finish as we used to, or a top 8 as we now need to, the squad requires depth and this is something it lacks.
Positions 1 to 13 need cover, but it would seem Mac moves players out of position to cover for missing players. Purdo is a loose forward.........play him there. Clubbwas capped at centre........stop playing him amywhere else. Dorn fills in well at FB, but Curtis was capped by GB at Full Back......
As I have been away and have only seen highlights or one or 2 Sky games, does anyone fancy naming 26 current Quins Squad players......2 in each position. No repeating names.....the first 13 in their preferred/best position (see above), the second 13 the same if possible. If a player in the second 13 HAS to be played out of position as cover, put their normal position in brackets.

Its amazing, from New Zealand you can see that Clubb is playing in the second row, yet I attend the games and see that he has been playing at centre, and has been for literally EVERY game this season. How many times do I need to tell you? Once again against Hull KR, Clubb played CENTRE.
