| Quote: wire-quin "Didn't he ref us verses Saints last year when we got zero penalties. Probably never heard of before.'"
Saints were on fire that day, it didn't matter who was reffing, Saints battered a very depleted QRL team.
Quote: wire-quin "He gave them 4 penalties that day. Granted a low penalty count overall but whoever heard of a home side not getting even one??? Pretty sure it will never happen at any other ground.'"
As said, Thaler was insignificant that day due to the sheer quality of a rampant Saints team.

Apart from Rikki Sheriffe, who was doing a bit of battering himself, particularly when it came to Maurie Fa'asavalu.

simpsons/017.jpg Welcome Quins Kitties born 02.04.09 -
Purdo - Determined, loveable with a "can-do" attitude. A born leader.
Louie - Big, white and fluffy. A very noisy prop forward.
Harley- Cute and gorgeous (just like our no.9) Well, I couldn't call her Chad, could I?
Update on Quins Mogs :-
Purdo - deffo leader amongst Mogs. The Capo.
Louie - turned out to be more like Louie Spence than LMS. Re-named Judas.
Harley - Cute but not as gorgeous as our no.9.
Oh well, at least I haven't got a Willy.:simpsons/017.jpg |

| Not exactly our lucky ref.
Ben has seen our team succumb to some right old shallackings (Leeds 48-0, Saints 58-12, 0-54 Saints and 12-66 Cas).
But we love Ben Thaler, coz he's just a lad...

Not arguing with that one jot. Just making the point that not giving any penalties to one side (especially the home side) is I think a unique occurence. Didn't cost us anything in that game but if it had happened in other games last season - especially those where the ref was unquestionably the difference between the two sides (Catalans (H&A), Wakey (A), Leeds (CC) etc)- it would have been another justified case for complaint on our part. I would hope and imagine that the Wakey game this weekend will be closer than the Saints demolition last season so I'm concerned that yet again the ref will be the key difference.

Black Backgrounds/Zoot.gif Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

| As it's top v joint bottom of Sky's Fairplay league, the penalty count should be interesting!

Didn't we have Ganson for our second home game with Saints last year? The one where we were in front in the second half before Ade Gardner was awarded a crucial try after being held up?

22386.gif 'For a bonus point perhaps you could tell me the last English SL coach to lead his side to victory (either Challenged Cup or Grand final)? ....or perhaps records don't go back that far!
Clive Woody 18.4.06, not able to remember last year! pray for him......
'I shall take your failure to answer my question as an admission that there are few if any English head coaches in SL.'

| I can't go with all this ref-bashing I'm afraid.....though I get as one-eyed as the best of 'em. If we're good enough, we'll win - if we're not, we'll lose. We can all think of examples where we think the decision was the wrong 'un but it does even out and in all probability the punter is wrong about the call anyway. As often as not in these cases the ref is right - especially when viewed on replay on the ol' boob tube later on that night.....
None of this takes away from the times when they do get it wrong but that's just the luck of the draw, human error - call it what you will - nowt to do with bias!

2007 - Top of the Fair Play League
2009 - Currently Top of the Fair Play League
2007 - Fewest penalties received
2008 - Fewest penalties received
2009 - So far, Fewest penalties received
So what that means is each time a team plays the Harlequins they play the most disciplined 80 minutes of rugby they have played all season.
Sure.
No one who follows this club will be convinced very easily that it does all get evened out.

We're not all Southern Softies: |
|
| Can't make it this Sunday cos I'm working.
Will try to listen on the net, so I hope to hear all the home fan's singing:
"We love Ben Thaler,
Cos he is just a lad,
We love Ben Thaler,
Cos he ain't got no dad,
We love Ben Thaler,
Harleqins, through & through."
