What riled me most was the patronising comment that we should be flattered that Catalans v Quins is regaded as an attractive fixture. Surely no more so than Huddersfield (having their best SL season) at home to Warrington (resurgent under Tony Smith following a nightmare start) or the clash of two relatively big clubs (Bradford v Wigan) both of which were already scheduled for Sunday afternoon and could have been broadcast instead.

When every home Catalans fixture has been played on the original date announced at the start of the season since they joined Superleague three and a half seasons ago there was no reason for anyone to suspect this would be an exception.

As for people spending the week in the South of France maybe some will but I'm sure most would be going on Friday or Saturday to return on Sunday. What I don't understand is that I have just watched highlights of the Dragons Leeds game with perfectly acceptable coverage from a French broadcaster. If the reason for the switch is that Sky cannot get their gear from the North of England to the South of France by Saturday why can't they use a feed from the French or use their gear?
