| Quote: sogspurs "Gutterfax, the club can't be judged solely on attendances, yes they are important financially but when you stop looking at just the numbers they are real people giving up their own time and usually travelling a distance to watch the team, the team has been poop for years now and is just getting worse, so letting more people know about us and then showing them we are a less than average team who don't try very hard and loses to small northern towns is not helping, I've given up trying to bring new people because I'm embarrassed at showing them how little broncos care. It doesnt mean that beating saints hull and hudds would give us 5k per game, but it would have certainly increased numbers.
I'm not saying Gus is perfect but after this review I would rather he still be there. The team needs to get itself noticed for the right reasons before the office staff have a chance of marketing them. Something like making the play offs and knocking out a few big clubs away from home or be involved in a great cup match on the BBC that everyone wants to talk about afterwards. I know I'm dreaming but the reality of it is too depressing'"
The CEO is responsible for the overall running of the club. He went on record as saying that he would like to see us commercially viable with 10,000 attendances........nobody forced him to say this.
I repeat.....a winning team would of course help, but the opening round attendance was nothing short of a disgrace.....yes, a hammering at Wire was not ideal, but a closer game at Hull was followed by a sub 2k gate.............
Yes, attendances are not the be all.....but they do = both ticket sale revenue, residual revenue and make us more attractive to sponsors...... It is a point I have religiously banged on about since 2002 and I will continue to do so.
Licences are up for renewal in about 20 or so home games time........the club has wasted nearly 1 million pounds in wages of ex cricket and tennis admin staff...these people, including Gus, have presided over the consistant decline of the club in every aspect.
To sell something, you must understand and believe in it..........I have no doubt the belief might initially be there, but that's about it IMO!

| As a manager I always look for the staff member with enthusiasm and passion, knowledge is always a benefit but without the first 2 traits you are going to struggle.
A winning team will always help but just to shed a light on what Gutters is always trying to get through to the club. Back in 96 / 97 in what I believe to be some of our most succesful times, it wasn't just a winning team that got us the support we had then. The owner Barry Maranta was a workhorse and tough task master. He was a friend of Rupert Murdoch and was on the phone all day everyday trying to get the papers interested in stories about the club and I mean anything ! Gavin Allen wrestling crocs, The Scud keeping fit by wrestling Cattle (hell I even got the job of finding a cow in London for him to wrestle for a photoshoot for the Sun). If Barry wanted a meeting you were expected to be at his appartment in Knighstbridge at 7am so as it didn't disturb your day duties. We also gave away cars, holidays to Australia, did leaflet and poster runs in the local area. He gave away a box a game to the local business that brought the most staff to a game etc. He invited local pub landlords down to try and get them to support the team. There were planning meetings with Fosters etc to formulate business plans, strap lines etc. Remember the slogan " See the excitement feel the passion" ? This was used on every bit of marketing for 2 yrs to try and build the brand. We used it in papers, on transport and anything else we could think of. So as you can see, these elements were put into place long before we knew the team would be winning.

Simon......the point is that even if we were winning, the people tasked with "selling us" weren't up to the job.....we didn't know we were when St Helens came down...we got an average crowd....3 weeks later we had 3k less.....that's a disgrace and points to them not knowing what they are doing.

Sorry mate, you are right. I'm just so angry. I want to take my kids to something I loved before they were born and they dont want to go and see the Broncos slaughtered again. Upsets me so very much.
In the 90's and early noughties we were special - now we're an embarrassment.

Yes you would. We had no experience at all, all we were asked was to bring our passion and enthusiasm for the club to the table and we certainly did.
Current strapline would be " See the Dross, Feel the Misery" they can have that one for free

| Has anyone ever considered that the "review" never really existed? Ask yourself this, by hearing the club say it will be launching a review, did that make you feel that something was being done? Exactly. If there was a review then all that came from it was the sacking of two members of staff who's jobs were nigh on impossible given the lack of funds at the club. If there WAS a review, do you not think we would have heard something by now? If there WAS a review then do you not think that we would have seen something change on or off the pitch? I know we all live in hope that something might have been done to halt the collapse of the club but I think it is time to be realistic. There never WAS a review and NOTHING will change this year. Yet another tranisition season only I fear by the time next year comes around, crowds will dip below 1000 and the future will be very bleak.

| Im trying to remain optimistic and that we have the next coach lined up and Towel is just biding time until the axe falls come end of contract time as DH wants to let him go with a clean cv. The ultra optimistic in me thinks maybe the new coach could even be pulling the strings with Bailey and setting things up for next season.
Not sure i like the alternatives.

| I find it implausible that the club has not concluded the review given that it was announced to us over three games ago and I am sure things had started already given the departure of two staff plus signing of Bailey which happened shortly after it.
If you look at, we can safely assume that Hughes and Mackay are not reviewing themselves. That leaves only a handful of people in the frame. Powell, Tawhai and Howell, perhaps Massara and Phil Jones also, the strength and conditioning guy Paul Watson, the two physiotherapists plus the back office staff. Then there are the players but obviously only about 5 players are out of contract so there is not much mileage there. So not many people to deal with really. This wouldn't take long.
I reckon Powell has been promised a new role in the set up, this will be something that sounds important maybe something like Sporting Director of Youth Development, keeping him on the payroll.
It wouldn't surprise me if the secretive nature of the people involved ensures that this bad news is hidden from supporters.
They are probably praying for a win and then will announce the news I think.
