The Leeds fans will all be joining in.

| I don't know if there has been any official confirmation one way or the other that Latham Tawhai is now Rob Powell's asst. I believe that Tawhai was the u20s coach last year and assisted the coaching staff on match day. Are we to have an under 20s coach who can do something with them and then assist with the first team. Has Colin Baker moved up from the u18s to u20s, sadly I don't know enough or the club aren't interested in the non-trivial.
When Billy Peden was released we might have got a couple of decent trainers, but we lost the rugby league knowledge. Just think that a young first time coach needs as much help as possible, and giving him a setup that is weaker than BMDs is not exactly helpful. London has always produced good wingers and second-rows, but we need a coach to turn athletes into Super League quality rugby league footballers.

| I agree. Rob Powell might well be a damn good coach but he's currently got a weaker team and a weaker support team around him than McDermott.
A Director of Rugby would be a good idea not only offer guidance and pass on vital experience to Powell but also to curate the clubs player development strategy and as you say ensure our juniors are coming into the first team with the necessary skills. And if they happened to be well connected in the game and able to help out with recruitment then all the better.

I heard BMcD ignored anything his "support" team had to say.

| I thought I'd dig this one up, in the light of the first 5 rounds, and away wins at Leeds and Saints. Feel free to peruse, look for your own contributions, and feel (a) smug or (b) repentant.

| I don't remember being particularly negative but have to say I was a little disappointed we promoted from within rather than appoint John Kear, bring back Tony Rae or someone like that.
I am over the moon now with coach Powell, wouldn't swap him for anyone, I predicted last week we would lose to saints and thought leeds would be our big result of the season, powell is getting the great team performances from the squad required to win games, and has helped Luke gale and Luke dorn did some amazing form.
No matter where we finish, if we keep playing in the same way I will be very happy and I'm pretty sure I'll be supporting a play off team this year

| I'll evaluate at the end of the season rather than making snap judgements after 5 matches.

| Its a results driven sport!. Many good coaches have not had the resources in terms of quality or quantity to make it work. Rob is off to a great start with a decent bunch of FIT players but low on depth. He can do no more than he has done. Without more strength in depth any injuries to key players will impact on this team just as it has in previous seasons. Take out Gale and Ellis and we will struggle whatever RP does to cover up the cracks. The recall of the loan players will also impact on us. Lets hope all the guys stay fit and the loanees are allowed to stay as long as possible.
