Quote Dave Lister="Dave Lister"My thoughts on Gillingham were well documented when someone suggested that the club should move there. Gillingham is a toilet with absolutely nothing going for it. The natives will have no interest in the game whatsoever. The only positive is that Priestfield is a reasonably tidy little ground.'"
Pretty much sums it up for me, albeit a little bluntly. Gillingham is not a place I want to visit for any reason - it's an awful town. (My brother lives there, in a relatively pleasant neighbourhood out towards the old military areas along the Thames Estuary near Chatham Dockyard.) Being positive, the ground is a sensible size, relatively modernised, and close to the train station and main road links.
It's too far from London though. Even if the ground sells out, locals won't be likely to travel to The Stoop from there for other games; they'll just think "well that wasn't bad seeing as there's no football until August" then forget about it. I get the feeling a lot of people on here are so consumed by their own enthusiasm and willingness to travel all over the south east in support of the club, they lose sight of the fact that most people aren't so fanatical and probably won't bother.
