To be honest not really, or the Monie days, as we were in season on both of those and you kinda got a light at the end of the tunnel feeling, whereas now ?

| I don't know what to think, at times out there yesterday it looked like they were playing against each other not against Cass. To make it worse 2 Australian guys who had never been before were sat behind me and splitting their sides at some of our so called moves.

| I hope BM, or a new coach, will say that he expects us to win the comp in 2010.

| Back onto the original question....I have found [url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_league/7869156.stmthis[/url on the BBC site...quoting the we will win it line.....
Both Quins coach Brian McDermott and Robins boss Justin Morgan say their aim is to win Super League XIV. A terrific aim to have, but it won't happen.
When big Mac told me of his goal, I asked if that was his message to the players. "No," he said. "That's the message they've conveyed to me." I like Mac, and his talk is refreshing. It's clearly a case of aiming for the moon and hoping to land among the stars.
Captain Rob Purdham reckons this is the best squad he's been part of at Quins. I can't wait to see Louis McCarthy-Scarsbrook's development after four months out last year while, with Henry Paul, Scotty Hill and Mark McLinden all going, the return of Luke Dorn is massive.
Although they won't fulfil Mac's goal to win the competition, they should be a play-off certainty.
....bit in bold just for Listy

| Brian McDermott had this to say before Castleford
[urlhttp://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/sport/other_sport/rugbyleague/4568069.Mac__We_must_look_forward/[/url
Quote
“There is obviously the temptation to look at the season, certainly recently, and say we have failed in some way.
“But the fact of the matter is that if we win our last two games we are still in there, and that is a massive carrot to dangle in front of the players.
“How we have performed over the last couple of months does not matter now - all that matters is these final two games.
“We have been written off in most quarters due to our form and if we can turn things around and make the play-offs from here it will be a real story.”
Quins have the weekend off this week due to the Challenge Cup final, allowing the likes of Danny Orr, Chad Randall and Rob Purdham the chance to overcome persistent injuries.
But with David Howell, Karl Temata and Chad Robinson out for the season, McDermott admits his side are still far too stretched.
He added: “The simple fact is we have a limited squad, and when we lose players we often have to dip into our academy sides.
“But although those guys are showing a lot of promise, they are not ready for the top level yet.
“That will be the main target for our recruitment this off-season - bringing in players to bulk out the squad, to give our youngsters the time they need to develop.”
Despite all the bluster, with only one win in ten games it will take a major effort from the Londoners to book their place in the top eight.
And McDermott accepts that failing to do so would prove a bitter pill to swallow.
He added: “If we do not make the play-offs it will have been a failure.
“Not for me personally, but certainly for the club.
“I’m glad we have the ambition to make the play-offs, and I do not think we should stop aiming high.
“But if we do not make it we will have to sit down and assess what went wrong, and come back stronger next season.” '"
Makes me wonder exactly what McDermott would see as a personal failure He doesn't know what is going wrong but its not his fault. Maybe there should be campaign to refuse to buy season tickets until he goes.

| That is either very tongue in cheek or it shows an alarming lack of understanding of man management....................players in a [iteam[/i do not or should not need carrots dangling in front of them.
You also have to wonder how the squad have reacted to Brians pre and post match meanderings.

I blame myself for asking the question
In all honesty, I produce sales reports and sales targets and if I had said I would bring in £1,400,000 of new revenue, but instead brought in £300,000 I would be shown the door (if I hadn't run out of it already).
I expect more of the same next season......but who will ask the question at the forum in my absence?
