Im with you 3 seasons without making the play offs would be a disappointment but!!!!!! the club may have a longer term plan ie last year we cleared out Hill, Mclinden, Rinaldi etc and have used more young English players this year. That will naturally take to time become successful if that is the plan.

Just a thought.

Remember all those people who used to come on here and tell us how if only the team was filled with British and more especially local players the crowds would come flooding in. Where are they now

Indeed. Fair enough, we have tried blooding a lot of local players, and have often being forced into it, but quite a few are falling a little short of the required standard. It would be silly to write them off after half a season I agree, but it will be interesting to see if they can step up.

I think we need a different strategy other than plundering the lower divisions. And the only way we will be able to attract half decent players will be if we are a team challenging for the playoffs and beyond.

We need to get a quality gamebreaker like Marty was at his peak. Unfortunately we dont have a quota spot I guess, so we have a problem. The club can produce athletes but your 'skill' players need to be taught from an early age and those 10/11 year olds who took up the game down here we have coming through are still about 2/3 years away from SL imo

Mac has done OK....nothing special, but not terrible either. A top 8 finish, especially after he told me twice that we would win the comp, is the minimum requirement and if we fail in this, then his position may well come under scrutiny. That said, I get the impression that DH is a big fan of the coach and I doubt he would ever either fire him or let him go without a fight.
If you look at the squad we have, I believe that Brian has done all he can with the talent at his disposal. Without the crowds, we don't have the cash to attract the big game players and I still believe that we need an average gate figure of 6,000+ before the funds become available.

Listy, I appreciate that your opinion is that the coach may be the problem, but who would be able to get more out of what we have? If you ask me, the problem isn't Mac........the problem is that DH won't spend speculate to accumilate and therefore, the club will never have the funds to get the players you believe will take us upwards and onwards.

You think he has done a good job to avoid the playoffs for the past 3 seasons? Tony Rea got slagged off on here on numerous occasions yet at least he got the club into the 6.

Why do you like him? Do you enjoy the tripe he comes out with after a defeat? Do you enjoy him seeing Mick Nanyn as a reasonable signing?

The problem for clubs in our position is, as Robbie Paul pointed out on the Super League Show a couple of weeks ago, lack of strength in depth and without more money it's difficult to see what can be done about this. Lack of cash is hardly BM's fault!

been done to death and as much as some on here and elsewhere think I spout b0ll0x, it does go to show that there's a connection between on and off field performance with crowds directly influencing the quality of player we can afford (and attract).
Enough has been said (mostly by me) on this subject, so I'll leave it .........for now!
