Exactly the thinking which has inhibited the growth of RL over the last century or so.

| At a guess, reckon the RFL are paying between 22K and 25k for these spots on Granada and Yorkshire ITV....and as has been said already, given "frequency" is the key to most forms of above the line marketing, there would have been better ways to waste cash
The targetting of wendyball fans smacks of the work of someone who doesn't understand TGG.......IMHO that is.

RL will appeal more to soccer fans than rah rah fans imo. Dont have a problem with that, but disappointed that this new marketing campaign is retreating to the North so much. Big advertising boards in Manchester and now TV ads in Yorks / Lancs only.

| We now have a great argument for some cash for marketing, why not ask for some?

I'm guessing it's due to reach and costs.
As an average. It can cost between 3 to 3.5 times more to put the same ad on ITV in London than it would in Yorkshire, or between 2 to nearly 3 times on Granada, dependent on the time of day and programme for a one off slot.
Or put another way, you'd spend less to place one ad on BOTH Yorkshire and Granada TV when Coronation Street (19:30 slot) than you would to place it in London alone. AND, if you went to the expensive 21:30 slot, you could almost run that same ad TWICE in Yorkshire and once in Granada for the one appearance in London.
Disappointing for Londoners wanting to spread the word, yes, but for audience and demographics, they've chosen to preach to the converted.

Which is why I said they should spend the equivalent amount (pro rata) on advertising in London. In papers or on radio. The club should be onto the RFL about this.

One could question the wisdom of having a club in London if you arent going to promote it.

| If i lived as close as you lot to top flight RU teams i wouldn't bother watching RL. It's a tin pot regional sport which is on its backside.

1649_1338292262.jpg I have followed the LONDON CLUB since I was in my teensl even though born in St Helens and still live nearby and went to the first game at Fulham, also Big West Ham Supporter:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_1649.jpg |

| See Nigel Woods this afternoon has stated we will kick off the season with NO sponsors for either Super League or The Championship, suppose there is still time to find a sponsor for the World Cup!!!! just hope they do not let the RFWC slide into being a Flop!
Super League show nationwide repeat is going to be Tuesday 1.30pm, suppose it is in daytime!

So, a regional sport that desires national recognition has announced an online bingo company and a Beer with a Northern pedigree as two "partners" for SL, with the latter also sticking it's name on the Challenge cup. In the same week, the RFL announce that their flagship competition and the lower divisions will start the season with no sponsor at all, they are running a TV campaign in Granada and Yorkshire TV regions to attract "new" fans and we only have 1 "partner" secured for the RLWC 2013 and still no word on a TV deal or schedule with about 190 working days until KO
It get's harder to defend the actions of the idiots in the RFL at every turn.....replace fatty woods with the crap african fielder and he'd probably do no worse

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |
