| Actually on reflection Listy, you're right.
I read it all again and despite the opening gambit, I took it wrong.
Apologies GF and DL. It feels continual sometimes. This time it wasn't.

| I take the view each year that provided I am not in dire financial straits I buy me and the kids a season ticket knowing that they will rarely use theirs but its money in the clubs pocket. Same goes with merchandise. I feel thats enough commitment to the cause and I have not been inclined to introduce new people to the club simply because its too big a hike from Hertfordshire to be endlessly let down so no amount of rewards would change that.
That said, through my work within the community game I am at pains to promote the name of the club and differentiate them from Saracens and hope my message gets through and we get some bums on seats but would not lose any sleep if we dont.

| I also have a problem paying £3 service charge and then often have to collect the ticket on match day because my friend may only have decided they would come couple of days before hand, so I save my £3 and buy on the day. Stupid really to do anything else

| From this part of London you have to be really committed to want to go - you're not going to want to spend 3 or 4 hours on public transport for something you are lukewarm about.

| Regarding your question GF………….IMO due to the poor performances over a number of seasons the bulk of the fans turning up on a regular basis these days are the hard core element, who I would hope are mostly season ticket holders. Most of these people have already brought along friends in the past, but for a variety of reasons including poor performances on the pitch, it has not been possible to inspire these newbies to return on a regular basis. Friends brought along in the past tend to be quite selective as to their return visit, picking games against a favoured opponent or coming along for a day in the sun linked with some social aspect. In short, the dragging friends along card has been used up by many and I think it will take a consistent string of good results and improved performances to change the mind-set of the casual supporter that we are anything other than a poor bottom of the table side. IMO the cost of tickets, travel time etc has very little to do with it.
Slightly off topic…..there is a separate thread about the `match day experience` , this is an asset which (along with consistent improvement on the pitch) the club would do well to re-focus on to pull in additional punters. We London fans tend to take it for granted but in the past it has stood head and shoulders above anything else on offer at other clubs (although I hear that Widnes is pretty good). We should be looking to maximise its potential and the after match party and promote the event to both home and away fans. How about some guest ales like the mini beer fest they recently laid on at the Quins RU v Bath game………..they were 10 deep at the bar and could not sell it quick enough.

| Agree with UTS.
We used to bring people along regularly but they rarely witnessed a win and in the end, you feel you are putting people off the game.
If we start winning or even putting on a good show on a consistent basis, I'm sure we will all do our bit in getting people along and some of the fans that defected will return.
It's going to take time and patience though, unfortunately, and I know that we haven't got that much left of either.

| Quote: Torbreck "In a nutshell as I often bring a friend along... it's the +£3 commission charge on top of the ticket price for booking on-line. Why? Due to the crowd issues I pay cash at the gate for them as we'll always get a seat so stuff the 'rewards'.'"
Pretty much my feelings, can turn up on the day with a mate/ mates, get a ticket minus the £3 fee! Instead of an online reward why not put half a dozen or so vouchers in the ST book enabling ST holders to buy guest tickets for a tenner? I'd rather that than the 'rewards'!

| Took me 4 days of trying to get through to the ticket office for my Magic weekend ticket.
Would'nt bother with £3 extra to book a ticket to get a possible £5 back at the end of the season. Just buy on the door if I want to bring one of the family.
Don't see why anybody would take this offer.
I do target asking friends/colleagues around the free ticket offers and 'big' teams so have introduced a couple of people a year to the club for the past ten years. All have enjoyed the experience, none has ever come back as a paying spectator. Would like to tell you why but just don't know.

| Mixture of offer fatigue plus I barely want to go half the time let alone drag others along to sit out on a miserable February game when they can be in a pub elsewhere watching the 6nations.
Also - and I know I can get flamed for not doing anything to find out, but I shouldnt have to , it should be made clear what it is that needs to be done to take 'advantage' of the offer. ( and again yes I could buy the programme but in years past they have offered so little content that they hardly seem worth a pint)
Also as its only one person or whatever that wins the prize its not even likely that the effort would be worth it on those grounds.
Small rewards and targets (heck even this site employs it with its eddie hemmings wig etc rankings) is what's needed for things like this.
Bring 1 get a pint
bring 5 a t shirt
10 a ball
20 a jersey
50 a season ticket
100 a box etc
list them all in the program too

| I like our matchday magazine. I think it's well worth £3.

Im sure its great, just seems odd that the only means of comms being used to push a deal to increase crowds involves the target purchasing the media first.
Outta curiosity, how many programs get sold to home fans?

| I am a new season ticket holder and am bringing 10 friends/workmates to the Cats game. I don't like paying the £3 fee either. Hopefully some will come back regardless of the result as it is a good day/evening out.
