| BBC website is reporting this now with Nobby in talks about joining 'Fax on a part time basis (ie a couple of days a week). Funny thing is they're on a similar run of form to ours, the difference is it looks like they're trying to do something about it!

| Quote: alanw "I know this a thread on a director of rugby to give powell some advice, but money and who it could be is a problem as all have already said.
But i was watching the Union lot of TV over the weekend and i have to say and also those who were doing the commentary also mentioned this. But their defence was awesome. They moved up in a line as one unit and didnt allow the other team any time on the ball when it was fed to their backs, not hanging back like ours have started to do alot as we know and picked up on sky the other night not for the first time either by them or others.
Now before anyone jumps on my back and tells me i dont know nothing and that defence in Union is nothing like it is in League, i do kind of know that ok but always willing to be told otherwise but thoses who know more then me on this
If the RU defensive coach can do something for us then I've no problem with it. I can't get my head around the whole defence thing this season, at the start of the season it was really good but just a few short months later.......

The difference is that Noble probably lives within a bus journey of Halifax, hence a part time role is viable.

Yes, trains are far too expensive. Cost me £2.20 to do a 6 minute journey last week

| That idea by alanw (Hello) actually isn't bad. The staff of both codes have,in fact, been known to speak to each other on occasion. Can't believe nobody else at the Stoop has thought of it. Possibly they have and been rejected due other commitments ie their own season, perhaps? But that'll be over soon and maybe the man in question would like a 'busmans holiday'. Maybe. Certainly a good shout, anyway.
PS - There was a Street Party down my way last Friday for some reason that temporarily escapes me. It was a very warm day so I wore my fave. Quins shirt. ('06 Home, since you ask). Anyway, nice neighbour comes up to me and says 'If I'd known things were going to be political, I'd have worn my Bath shirt.' Then he has a closer look
'[i]LEAGUE!!![i] you ba$tid!' which I considered to be a suitable opening gambit for a long conversation that involved several additional pints'n'burgers. Great fun. Vive l'Quins!

They made Paul Sculthorpe travel down to award the boys try of the month at Roehampton and Boot's n' All is filmed in Isleworth I think so a few days a week would not be outrageous, but would obviously be more strenuous than a small journey to Halifax and help with their full training of just a few days a week.

| Why would anyone think a coach with no Director Of Rugby experience would be able to assist a coach with little experience of Super League coaching?
I don't recall anyone except Steve Simms in the role in the UK, and possibly Tony Smith, and neither seem to have done much for the actual coaches - given none of them are currently head coaches anywhere.
Maybe David Waite could do the job, but not Noble.
I wouldn't be happy if I was Powell - the club knew the deal.
The clincher is probably cash.

| Think he needs some help, apparently the senior players help out but he needs an experienced coach with him. Think Tony Rae would be a good idea, and i would have nothing against anyone from the RU set up helping us out
