Before I post this, I should inform everyone that "The Penguin" is one of my best friends in life. But...

I have been reading posts for 10 minutes and have been irritated by some things people say. Unfortunately, this has tipped me over the edge. How can you say Williamson is a pedestrian? Easy to pick up the Australian as the scapegoat eh? How about the clueless local players who can't play RL? But yeah, its just our style, the NRL grand finalist is pathetic but English players are immune from criticism.

Bryan had the first good game that I've seen. He had heart and muscled up.

In the first half the Reds had 3 looks at our line (scoring once) all down our right side.

In the second half they put some slick moves on and opened up both sides.(they had to much speed for us)

A second half capitulation again. You must look at fitness and/or the use of the replacements (I would hope he didn’t change the tactics as we were dominant in the first half)

We lost Golden (knocked out) (Reduced us to 3) He used Temata for 19 minutes before half time(reduced us to 2) and didn’t use him again. He used Bibb for 13 minutes after half time (reduced us to 1) and didn’t use him again. So in effect we were rotating around one possibly two replacements. Bolger and Williamson both played the 80 which may have contributed to our defence opening up.

Out of curiosity why did we play our hooker at stand off and our stand off at hooker? Did Chad play in the second half?

Why on the 5th did Melling a left footed kicker stand on the short right side to kick the ball(he got caught with it) At this level (at amateur level even) you would expect the left footer to stand on the left and the right footer (Chad/Orr) on the left offering up decent kicking options.

Positives- We held/dominated a bigger pack in the first half (possible wore us out). We were getting 3 in the tackle and slowing it down which was good to see. Temata made a difference going forward when he came on. BJB tidied up and returned well from full back. Chad put some good spiral kicks up in the first half. Clubb ran with a bit of meaning in the first half and actually took the ball whilst on the run.

Negatives-Where do you start-Second half-Woeful.

A bunch of the local players are still so young though. Its a bit unfair giving the likes of Bolger and O'Callaghan stick. Only played a handful of games! Its the likes of McCarthy-Scarsbrook and Clubb who have practically gone backwards when they should be leading from the front.

As for Williamson - he's an experienced NRL player, and yet offers so little going forward. I take on your comment about his defensive abilities from yesterday, but really, thats only half the game. Gareth Ellis is one of my favourite players, for example, because he excels at both attacking and defending. From Williamson i've seen plenty of the latter but sod all of the former.

Of course, the real culprit is McDermott. He's responsible for the general air of cluelessness surrounding the team.

Dave - probably because he's earning about 5 times what the young locals are on and he offers no leadership whatsoever. Williamson is a disgrace just going through the motions and taking a pay packet. We are really missing leaders without Purdo and he's the first player I look to. Mbu could tackle like a machine but apparently that wasnt enough.

I don't disagree with regards to his earnings bit labelling him a disgrace? What exactly is Williamson meant to do surrounded by a team full of deadwood? Do you expect him to score a hat-trick every game and kick all of the goals? His credentials speak for themselves, he tackles like a machine and we rarely even have the ball for him to do anything.

He's supposed to offer a lift, as danny williams and lee hopkins did so well when we needed it. Tackle harder, hurt the opposition, intimidate them, encourage the less experienced guys! Anything! Not jog around like a useless tubby journeyman forward.

I'm conceeding defeat? Williamson is one of our better forwards - but like I said, unlike Williams and Hopkins, he is surrounded by poor players and is constantly on the back foot. Not his problem.

I agree about Williamson (as long as he doesn't give those cheap penalties for lying on) He was brought in mainly as a tackler and that is what he does well on the whole, but he cannot carry the whole team.
