Im thinking about going to the saints game on Friday, anybody else going?

Yep as it's our penultimate game. Interestingly my advance ticket was cheaper 1st class rather than 2nd but still not cheap. Shall probably get a ticket at the gate for the East Stand, which I think is the away stand if it's open.

Who is St Helen?

I believe there are a few going - in the East Stand, Soome of us took advantage of the Group On 2 tickets for £20 in there. Think most of us travelling from down here are staying in the Radisson Park hotel.

Not a bad Hotel, quite close to railway station and short walk straight down to ground.

The saint (originally spelled St Elyn) whose name was given to a chapel of ease in the Hardshaw district of St Helens and from which the town gets its name. I've no idea when the apostrophe was dropped.

No, you've got the wrong end of the stick again. She didn't have a game, she was game. Always up for it that one, like most scouse birds.

According to the scholarly tome "Lives of the Saints" by Rev. Alban Butler, as republished in 1990, St Helen's "game" was organising the building of churches in Jerusalem, one on Mount Calvary and one on Mount Olivet. She was still on this game in her eighties and died in either AD 326 or AD 328 in Rome.

Definitely not a scouser, Liverpool wasn't founded until nearly 1,000 years later.
