| Jack Latus was injured early December and could not train for a while so Rob Powell has extended his trial period before making a decision .

the 2nd quote you used was about his brother sam who we kept on, jack latus never played a first team game for us, and no not wrong passport just not quite good enough to get in the team, he's not quite quick enough to be a superleague winger, he's a better full back but was behind shaun briscoe and ben cockayne, hope he gets a go with yourselves.

Point is, if these kids who get to play with your academy/reserves aren't given a chance then when you finally adhere to the overseas rules you will end up with nobody to play for you........it's all well and good trying to BUY success, but you need to be planning for the future. Jack was good enough to be a constant in your academy/reserves last year....why not again this year?

| Would love it if he developed into a quality half back for us because we need one asap. Trouble is if he did develop HKR or someone else Up North could easily tempt him back to his roots.

Seems like those in glass houses... HKR appear to have had significant success, 'Quins are a tad short of it on and off the field.

Great post
Some fans, especially those who have a reason for being envious of HKR's rise don't understand that succesfull acadamies etc take a fair few years to ensure a conveyor belt of prospective S.L. youngsters.
Saying that HKR's under 18 academy managed to secure a place in the top group play off's in 2010 despite several younger players, so the seeds for success certainly appear to be there.

Oh the Irony......do you think that any fan of fulhamcrusaderbroncoquins isn't aware of the time needed to develop youngsters? It's just that for the first 10 years of SL we were branded a team full of aussies who had no place inthe top flight because RL wasn't catching on in the south..........HKA on the other hand are a team based in a heartland region.....you should have plenty of feeder clubs etc to attract players from.......there is no reason for you to have 10 overseas players on your books other than short term glory hunting.
As for envy? I would suggest that apart from you having 5,000 more fans than us, I would suggest that we are stronger pretty much everywhere else off the pitch and we have won exactly the same number of trophies as you on the pitch....0
I will be the first to congraulate you and your club if you win some silverware in 2011.....but I do worry for your next few years.......you have very few (if any) England representatives at under age level........and your Aussies will get old/bored/cold and go home....what then?

HKR emerged from almost two decades in the underworld of the lower leagues, with small crowds, admin and attempts to drive them out of existence into the gleaming world of Superleague just 4 seasons ago. You expect them to have hung on to a top rate development system throughout all of that?
Glory hunting? Short term strategy for building a strong and sustaining club that doesn't have its fans worrying all season (and closed season) whether they will exist by the start of the next. I've read plenty of your over-exercised posts about the inability of 'Quins to attract fans (and understand where your frustration comes from) but to slag off another club's apparently successful strategy in building a robust position in the comp seems a little churlish to me.
Meanwhile, looks as though the HKR academy is doing ok... check out the 29th May 2010

Finally, when the London Broncos band of merry mercenaries were getting into the play-offs on a regular basis there was a lot more spirit and cohesion in the club than there is now that it has to sit under the Union shadow.

Fulhamcrusaderbroncoquins are 30 yrs old.......Hull Kingston Australians had a 100yr head start. 20yrs out of the top flight is no reason for a proud Rugby League region like yours to let things slide...unless they are all fairweather fans. I repeat...with 450,000 travelling fans, surely you can find 30 guys who can play footie.....I mean East Hull is a hotbed of RL isn't it?
London RL has gone from a team full of Aussies to a British based team in 15 years........this was pretty much from a standing start in 1996. Hull Kingston Australians have more overseas players going into their 5th season than London RL did........please, try to justify this.
Even if it was because you had no academy/conveyer belt.....it still beggars the question....why not sign ENGLISH players...... ? Could it be something to do with your coach being one dimensional?

| Jack Latus is a good player but is too old for under 20s rugby so Rovers had no-where to play him. He only covered at stand off due to injuries in the reserves so dont expect him to feature there for you guys. Personally i think he could go on to make a very solid full back with the only concern being that he may be a yard short of pace for Super League level.
