| No not that World Cup, the RLWC in 2013. Now they've made the draw what do you think the odds are of a few games being played 'down sarf'? England v Oz at Wembley? Ireland v Oz at the Stoop or at QPR?
Any thoughts?

| We should get a few games in London, hopefully at the stoop too, there are 19 matches, and would love England to play at Wembley or the final to be there, tho I remember when thy said it would be in the uk they said it would be held in heartland areas to ensure success. Are we a heartland yet?

| It's a bit of a conundrum. I'd love to see a game against the Aussies at Wembly - not least because it sends out a message that this is not just an insignificant sport confined to the M62 corridor. However, it's only worth doing if there's likely to be a near full-house, and for that to happen there has to be a realistic prospect of England winning. That's before we get to marketing etc, which I'll leave to those who know better.

| I think we should all email Boris, and point out that instead of spending £15m not to get the soccer World Cup he could get the RL World Cup for nowt! It is worth a try, and it would be a fig leaf for the hapless b*nker!

| What time of year is it due to take place? Wembley's for hire to anyone anytime thanks to the need to recoup the cost of building it, but if the tournament is in the Autumn like the last one here the big northern football clubs won't want extra wear and tear on their pitches. That may have a bearing on choice of some venues for the biggest matches.

Ah! The same day half the country was paralysed by heavy snow this year!
Whilst it would be nice for us to have a few games at southern venues, I can't see the logic when most of the people who watch the sport live week in week out live in the north.

Depends where you sat. We were amid a load of people whose main aim was drinking and no real interest in the game. Just before half time having been able to see about 6 mins of the game due to the so called southern hemisphere fans jumping up and down to get booze we gave up and went home. Two couples behind us said they wished they could go home to watch but as they were from the North of England that wasn't possible.
We thoroughly enjoyed the second half as we were at home and able to do what we paid to do which was to watch the game (albeit on TV).
If you like a drink by all means enjoy your drink, they is never any toruble with rugby fans enjoyoing their juice but get the supplies in before the game starts and sit with them lined up under your seat and enjoy both without spoiling it fore those whose only interest is the game also enjoy it.

| Does anyone know what size the Olympic stadium will be when it's finished? That could be a possible venue for a game providing we fill it.
And I agree with wirequin, aus v nz last year at the stoop was phenomenal

| I think the Olympic stadium will still be 60,000 plus when finished, I know they'll probably want to have the final at Old Trafford but it could be a good alternative and it would still be an impressive brand new stadium suitable to host a World Cup final .

If West Ham United FC take it on (as sounds likely) it will be 60,000 with a running track retained. Personally I'd argue that no stadium with a running track is suitable to host a rugby/football showpiece event. If it's going to be in London at all why hold it there instead of Wembley?
Another factor would be the length of time taken to reconfigure the stadium after the olympics. Would it be ready in time?

It's an expanded format. There are actually 31 matches so you'd hope they'd be a few down here. Would also like to see a third/fourth place play off (32nd game) as this was the one thing missing from the previous tournament - Fiji v England would have helped determine the gap between the 'major' and 'minor' teams. Probably the only World Cup in which such a game is of any use!
