| I was at the David Lloyd gym in Raynes Park on Saturday and dear old Tony Rea was training there. He looked very fit and well and said he was over for a couple of weeks holiday.
I wonder if Quins RL and/or RU need him now.........

Not sure mate, I was shocked to see Tony looking so fit and young, obviously Broncos/Quins was more stressful than the current job.
For those who don't know DL Raynes Park is the Quins gym, so he probably got in free for old times sake, or is there a plot afoot?!

Hi matey long time etc etc
I think somebody said he was over as the club he works at have been playing out in France................would love to know his thoughts after him being at our last two home games, despite all the flack he got, TR had this club at heart and he can't have enjoyed what he saw.

Tony knew the stats and I said it was getting close to the 2000 season of doom. Tony laughed and winced at the same time. I think that year is still painful because as you say, he's a London man through and through.
I'd have him back.

Be interesting to know now whether that was a minority or majority feeling?
His SKY work proved that he understood the game..............wonder how many current SL coaches have been asked by SKY to act as summerisers during live games this season, and how many haven't, I can think of one club coach who to my knowledge hasn't appeared...............wonder why?

Like a lot a lot of others I was equivocal over TR. No doubt he had the club at heart but he needed to leave when he did. And I'm not in favour of trying to turn the clock back in any event.
Now, if BM was able to recruit him as a tactical analyst, that would be something else. But no chance I fear.

Could he combi-up
Seriously, TR was a star in his time here, but the appointment of an English coach was important to the development of the community project at Harlequins Rugby Lessons and that is far more important than success on the park or bums on seats isn't it
I am still of the opinion Brian Mac in!

That was my general feeling at the time as I recall. He seemed to go at the right time without outstaying his welcome, but without a clamouring for him to change his mind.

I think I recall believing that he had gone on at least one season too long, the exceptions are always there but in most sports there is a "shelf life" to coaches abilities to affect constent performance change..............having him back as a coach could prove fruitful for a short period of time, if, and it's a big if, he had a reliable understudy to bring through within one or two seasons. I still think TR had valuable contacts which we are now seeing the benefit of having at that time [sop to Old Fulham, even if we could not get Queensland contacts
However it's all pipe dreams and speculations, the key point is that we either have a new coach in place for the start of next season, or, we have a pretty much revamped squad with all being an improvement on the current incumbents, otherwise nothing much will alter from this season..........a few good wins, a few upsets, and a string of poor performances.
