| In Australia our NRL clubs all have 'feeder' clubs ... or clubs affiliated with the big names.
I used to play footy for a side years ago that were linked to the Sydney Roosters.
Friend of mine played for a club affiliated to South Sydney Rabbitohs
A cursory surf round the internet has revealed FIFTEEN small clubs playing within the London area.
How many of these are Harlequins RL's affiliates????
Fifteen clubs.......and the next nearest big rival club is right down the other end of the M4 in Bridgend.

I think Will Sharp is ex-South London Storm. And isn't Joe Mbu ex Skolars?

Wonder how many players from those 15 clubs attend Harlequins games on a regular basis.

No idea. This one has been done to death. They play rugby themselves, doesn't mean they have any interest in watching it.

| Here we go- Cant attend as we play at the same time............We've been there plenty of times before
We even gave them all a free season ticket a couple of years ago with there memberships and still they didn't come and watch- We played on Sun afternoons for half a season to cater for them

And that Dave, sadly sums it up.
I bet if you asked a group of amateur footy players from Wigan or Hull if they had interest in watching it as well as playing it they would all say yes.
There isn't the passion in London for League that there is up north.
And until clubs like Harlequins start to make it more attractive for supporters to come and pay at the turnstiles its going to remain that way

Same thing applies up north as well I know of many amateurs both Junior and senior who have little to no interest in watching the local pro games
In fact you are probably better going after the ones who dont play rather than those that do

| fwiw I know that at least some of the LJL kids come and watch, and even work at the club, ball boys etc, B Mac even goes to watch some of the kids play!
Yep the am league in London and the South in general is pretty strong, most of em prefer to play than watch though, at that does not only apply to down here
Me, if i had my way, we sould play Sunday, that way i get to do both, but it aint gonna happen, and at least playing on sat makes it a better experience and more convenient for the away support

If you live in St Helens you're never more than about a 15 minute drive to Knowsley Road, if you live in Thornton Heath (where Souths play) then you're about an hour away from The Stoop by car or train.
Making comparisons with up north is silly, it's not known as the M62 corridor for nothing, many fans up north spend less time getting to away games than fans in the South East spend getting to The Stoop.
