| Subject to RFL approval Skolars are being taken over by what is reported to be an Australian consortium. They have made it clear they intend Skolars to be the side who step up to the plate in IMG's brave new world. We live in interesting times...

That is interesting and may focus our bulldog management to get it’s A game together. Timing is a little odd as Skolars could have done with funds pre season to spruce up the squad etc for this year. One from bottom in L1 is not a particularly attractive place to be if you want to be at the top table. Maybe, like us, they will recruit mid season. Would be nice to see them pushing up the table.

Maybe playing the long game. They won't get into SL with a run down athletics track thats for sure. Lots of work to do before IMG even think about them.

| Maybe IMG working behind the scenes. They see the potential of London but would be wise to steer clear of Hughes.

| I wonder. If they could get a groundshare with Orient FC, for example, they could be on to something. I think a strong Skolars would be good for the game, but they would need to go full time, based on my observations of what has happened with Broncos lately

| If IMG want a top club in London, they either need to build a new club, support Skolars, or support Broncos. Only 1 of those 2 clubs has any history only 1 of those 2 clubs has a decent ground. Sadly only 1 of those 2 clubs has Hughes. It's a conundrum for sure. Maybe Hughes' friends in the North (if he has any) could persuade him to see the bigger picture. But for our myopic maestro that doesn't sound likely.

| That would be hilarious.....the skolars passing The Broncos as they ascend to SL status while Hughes rambles on incoherently about whining ungrateful fans not turning up to watch "his" team....
As for the investment in skolars. It won't take much to get them to Championship standard [few hundred grand] but SL is millions and millions of quid for no return. It's not investing, it's just a really expensive hobby

And unnecessary. We need to smarten up our off field decision making or we could get caught up by Skolars.

‘Smarten up our off field decision making’
Clearly that will only happen in a post Hughes era

| I see that the potential new owners of Skolars are the supposed backers of the New York RL start up that vanished as soon as they sold enough bobble hats.
Steve Scanlan at ARC rlhttps://arcsportsmanagement.com.au/our-team/rl apparently played for England, but I can find no record of this. They do seem to have a few boxers on their books....well, 4 to be exact, all based in Straya, but as is often the case, seem adept at self promotion.

| Looks like the anticipated takeover at Skolars has fallen through, according to an article on Rugby League Hub.
Apparently the realisation Skolars would likely be at the bottom of the IMG rankings prompted a renegotiation on the amount the new owners were willing to pay.
Always felt a bit of left field option in terms of a takeover and not really sure how much real investment the new owners were capable of brining in. Interesting to see if anyone else steps in to takeover.

Not a good end to a very poor season. Looks a bit grim.

Did they sell any hats before vanishing?
Yet again, people with little idea of rhe sporting landscape of Britain and especially London talkative good game but soon realise the enormity of what is required.

In some ways a shame, as I think ultimately it would have been good to have a second London team on a strong competitive footing.
Lot of questions as to where this leaves Skolars now I guess. Been a really poor season, after what was looking like a promising uptick in competitiveness last year. Feels like they have been well and truly overtaken by Cornwall and Midlands in terms of progression.
