What the club really needed was to completely change the culture from a losing one, in my opinion Tony helped to create that culture.

Nothing that I saw before tells me that we won't be sitting here in a year or two years talking about chronic underachievement and wanting to get rid of the coach.

Lets not forget that when Brian Mcdermott came in he brought a lot of new initiatives to the club which wasn't there when Tony was coach, including training methods and youth programs, the football side of things wasn't brilliant and people on here are deluding themselves saying that Tony will bring back the good old days......what good old days?

When was this golden age that we had under Rea.......this is just a symptom of David Hughes knee jerk culture which he's created at London Broncos.......Epic Fail!!

When you change the culture of a club you have to do it in a radical way without sentiment, look at how ruthless Ian Lenaghan was with Brian Noble, in the end it was the right decision because look how Michael Mcguire completely changed everything there, that was the type of change we needed.....radical change, now I fear we've missed the boat just because we won a few games after a new coaching appointment which is normal.

Bad, bad decision.......as Marlon Brando said, 'We could've been a contender'

2003 and 2006 we made the play-offs!

But there does seem to be a nostalgia kick with DH - a return to the Broncos and TR.

But give the man his due, he has made a rag-bag outfit look like world beaters!

Give him a chance!

If TR had been the Coach at the start of the season the Broncos would have made the Play offs.

We've just won three on the bounce for the first time in.....how long?

Forgive me but after two years of suffering under Powell's rudderless stewardship, Rea has provided the fillip we needed. It should have come much sooner.

It is a different club in many ways to when Rea was here before. The academy sides are performing better and more of the graduates from there are playing for the first team. Part of Rea's role going forward, IMO, is weening the club off the influence of the aussies who will be gone (one imagines) at the end of next season - Randall, Howell, Gower to name just a few.

The idea that we've hired Rea just to rest on our laurels is fanciful. He's got a huge responsibility to build this club into a far more competetive unit than it has previously been, to go towards justifying our currently precarious licensing status.

McDermott arguably laid the foundations but was treading water by the end. Powell was a disaster; Rea has to repair the damage. Let's hope he does.

Mac brought nothing. If anything he started the breakdown of the off field culture which it would seem is important to the way the club performs (The same "outside the M62" culture has been talked about at Catalans).

Rea is older, wiser and has other sport experience. Lets see what happens.

They do say dont go back.

Didn't Powell win his first three also and we were top of the league and everyone on here was hailing him as the messiah.

Don't get me wrong he's not as bad as Powell but you have to bear in mind the style of football we were playing at the time wasn't brilliant and we had a team full of aussies and experienced as well, dont see how he's gonna change anything sorry.

We need to create a tough culture in the mould of Des Hasler, Michael Mcguire, Craig Bellamy and Steve Folkes whereby non performance on matchday and training is not tolerated, we have missed a big opportunity, can't say I'm surprised. (Knee jerk Hughes)

so by the same token it's right to write off Rea's appointment so early on? eusa_think.gif

What has Tony Rea ever achieved as a Rugby League coach? Name me just one thing.....and no reaching the play offs is not winning a trophy.

by that very same logic you could have written off Brian McDermott when he went to Leeds. He then won a grand final.

You can't simply judge people on trophies, it's grossly simplistic.

Oh and a genuine 'lol' at anyone who thinks an accurate description of David Hughes is 'knee-jerk'. A more decisive, reactive chairman would probably have shown Powell the door after Round 8. But feel free to keep digging.

Our last two coaching appointments were a mistake.....Tony Rea and Rob Powell, I was not a fan of Brian Mcdermott either but I can say that when he was coach it was a period of transition from dependence on Australian imports to local players and energising our youth systems, he presided over that. Our youth teams perform much better than prior to him being coach, so whilst I wouldn't have selected him myself I think he did have a positive impact, I wouldn't have expected him to win trophies and challenge for honours, but that's the point now we are at full cap and we must bring a coach in who would've lead us in that direction which we're capable of building towards with a full cap. I think people are just accepting a play off spot as success under Rea and not aiming for something higher, but hey that's the culture of the club both on and off the pitch with fans and administrators alike.

Walk before you can run. If Powell was still here, we'd be confirmed as wooden spooners by now. Rea has at least dragged us into the competetive.

Walk before you can run? that's symbolic of our losing culture, can I just make you aware that we are at or at least close to full cap which means in monetary terms we have the ability to build towards a competitive team we need to start thinking in terms of wining trophies and changing the mindset of the club and that's the core problem we have a losing culture and we accept defeat more easily than other clubs.

Why walk before you can run when you have two feet to run, if you have two feet like everyone else (full salary cap) then why not run like everyone else?

TR's strength is that he knows London RL history, he know what the problems are. He is better with the fans and also has a handle on how the club should be run. I was a big critic of him as CEO but I am sure he has learned from that as well.
