I read on here how incredibly peeved everyone is at the mo. The club have or haven't done this and that, the players, the coach, the marketing etc. It all sounds rather depressing.

Is there a chance that a few of you could get together and come up with something to help implement the things mentioned like door drops and other bits that can be marketed around locally as suggested. Then when the happy few have got together and come up with ideas or designs, let the club know their intention and the offering of voluntary marketing. As there are so many good hearted people on here who have done it in the past. Is it worth a go? Anyone can design a leaflet. Printing it is what costs. The club can literally pay for the ink if someone was willing to print out hundreds of colour copies on a decent home printer. You could even get 3 up on an A4 and print it front and back. Then just cut them out later.

If the club are doing nish, maybe others could step up and present to them what they would like to do?

I know it's not the job of the supporter, but if it ain't being done, who else is gonna do it?

It could be done but the club refused help from volunteers and henceforth the gate to free willing and capable workers was closed. They refused help in a number of areas and only wanted raffle ticket sellers - what a waste of specialist talent that was. Bronocs has gifted and talented people from all walks of life and the club should tap into it. We are not cash rich. I would think we are on dicey ground if we went ahead and did things off our own back like printing leaflets and door dropping, I know you are not suggesting we forge ahead regardless of what they say but I think it is the only way the door drop would ever be carried out. Club please prove me wrong. There are enough people around who would help but I think the club needs to approach people for help as it cannot be done without their consent, or maybe I am jumping the gun saying people would help, maybe the past treatment of people who helped has caught up and they no longer attend games. I also think it is probably time to get a new supporters action group together like they had in the past but with new people and new ideas to push this forward and forge ahead. The old members of the group worked long and hard and carried out a lot of behind the scenes work which people knew nothing about (and why should they - SAG existed to help the club not personal recognition). I don't even know if any of the old members of SAG are still around the ground but the question could be asked.

SAG could be good. And the much maligned supporters club did some good things years ago. Was it Sylvia, or something like that?

Now i haven't been there for donkeys but didn't they turn down help a few years ago, or is it very recent. I would suggest they may need it now that's all.

Oh and absolutely am I saying that you need to ask the club first before doing anything.

Just wish I lived in London to do this, have always worked on any PR I can get with colleagues and friends
who I have worked with in media, just wish I could find a sponsor! for the shirts.

I do not know if it will be too late in the season but at the end of July, the olympic Road goes through Richmond,Twickenham ,Hampton Court Teddington even out to Surrey. On the 1st August, the Olympic time trial is based solely around Hampton Court, heading out to Weybridge, Esher,Surbiton, kingston and Teddington.Broncos have two home games soon after these events at home.
Surely this is the perfect time to go out leafleting. When the test event was on, even at Hampton Court Bridge there must have been around 2000 people. On the route down to my house it was full of local people watching the event. The time trial heads through Kingston market square.Get Buck And Dusty down there targeting families who have gone out to watch.Offer them a family ticket for a tenner. The football season will be in its break then so plenty of possible customers. All they have to do is have a team walking amongst the crowds.

Brilliant idea and would cost next to nothing. We are on the cycle route and even the test event a few weeks back had everyone out watching, the actual event should be massive - Gus / RP if you are listening get the flyers and the team organised to do this and also ask for volunteers. There is only one draw back and this is closed roads around the area. You would need to have a central meeting place within walking distance of the route - or a number of selected areas where people could obtain flyers and walk through the crowds. The crowds will be hanging around for a long time before the race so other distractions like Buck and Dusty would be great for families along gthe route. GIve out other cheap to obtain items like pencils, pens, posters anything that will capture childrens imagination

The torch relay is also going through Kingston, Richmond, Kew and Brentford on 24-July. It is then going through Richmond and Twickenham again (this time by boat on the Thames) on 27-July. There is no shortage of events the club could have a presence at in Richmond if only they could be d.

I know no-one is suggesting this happen yet but if it does go further I'd suggest checking out the law specifically passed around the Olympics. Part of the T&C's of hosting the Olympics are that the Olympic authorities are granted all sorts of powers, some breaks on the rules around movement of money and tax, right to guarantee entry to the host nation for any accredited officials even if they wouldn't normally be allowed in etc. A lot of this is to prevent guerilla marketing due to previous work by Nike etc. A suitable law has been passed by Parliament. It was little commented on by the media but has some incredibly illiberal aspects. Whilst it is clearly aimed at the likes of Nike and not London Broncos it would have to be looked at prior to any attempt to market around an Olympics event as getting volunteers nicked won't go down well.

As an aside if you live in an Olympics area I believe that someone, games officials I think but could be wrong, has been granted the power to enter your house and remove posters publicly displayed in your windows etc for the duration of the games. Just in case a non sponsor manages to get posters put up all on the marathon route or some such. Nice eh.

Forget my idea. Last admissions to advertise was on the 31st March.Having said that if a sports organisation where to apply with it being the Olympics.

Sounds like something that was done before and tried again only for the club to declare the volunteers were surplus to requirements. icon_rolleyes.gif
If I were in London, I would no longer offer my services to the club in any way shape or form free of charge. I believe there are other people who previously volunteered who feel the same (apologies to those that don't).

This isn't a scientific poll mate but my gut feel is that in those circumstances you would be in a minority.
I don't know Gus, have never dealt with him, and have no idea about his agenda, but, if he wanted to bring the dwindling supporter base back onside he could do worse than rengender the concept of supporters assisting the club, and under the right circumstances I believe he would succeed and supporters would rally round. Nic managed it, the club at that time needed it, and in general for the seasons at GP it worked.

It's not a supporters club that is needed, as there are always considerations such as membership, leadership, and direction required and that would be driven by on field cirumstances right now, it needs a group of people, with talents to offer, to sit with Gus for a high level kick off, and see what could be offered, and what the club would want, simply to allow the club to operate on a wider level within the resources it pays for, and those it could leverage from people who care.

I have been there and done that on 4 different occasions at the Stoop since 2006......each time I met with a representative of the RFL and every time we agreed on certain "actions" and "campaigns" that were designed to increase immediate attendances and raise funds for development of younger players.....
....they were typed up, submitted to the RFL contact and taken back to the club....where they died.

Not one of the discussed proposals would have cost more than 500 quid and would have involved using assets the club already had and volunteers....they involved buy in from the club and no shortage of hard work, but both the RFL and I believed they would work......

Yes. We know what's happened before. This isn't about the past. People who want to help, can but try again. This thread is about potentially helping, so why are you telling us how YOU won't be helping? This isn't about you, it's about something far more important.
