| we are 7% down on gates against last year.
The Castleford game is 2 weeks away and the club will need a gate of 9,975 to achieve parity against 2008.
So, ignoring rupe1 and his assertation that Diversity are proper entertainment what would you do to try to get 10,000 people to TW2 on Sunday 2 Weeks?
For me, offer free tickets to staff of local companies, every soldier, sailor RAF, Nurse, copper, fireman, teacher....everyone.
I would offer every season ticket holder 10 free tickets and I would drop entry charge to £5 for unallocated seating outside the ST areas. Steward the ST area, be everywhere else in the West and East....unalllocated.
I would let Castleford fans know NOW that £5 tickets are available and stick them in the North.
I would hammer the Australian Pubs with offers AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE....get the cheerleaders out around shepbush on Friday and Saturday night selling advance tickets...PLEASE. I know I bang in about this, but FFS......if the club are happy to slide into obscurity and oblivian with sub 3,000 crowds, they are doing a cracking job.
I had to work this weekend and therefore missed the game, but I would do everything in my power (were it my job) to fill at least 2 stands in 3 weeks time. I would also emphasise to the players that they have to play their part and turn up (judging by some of the reaction on here, something they didn't do on Saturday).

| Lee Hopkins said that before our first game they got almost daily updates on how well tickets were selling and how big the crowd was going to be and it didn't help their preparation on little bit.
So I agree with all of the above, just keep the players out of it!
We all know in reality they'll twiddle their thumbs til next Wednesday, then put an article up on the website encouraging people to come along and leave it at that.

Well, I am about to ping a monster letter over to the club in which I have suggested that every one of the 1,350 amateur RL players in London, together with (if possible) all of the 1,700 youth players in leagues are invited to this game free of charge.
2,112 was the bumper crowd for cas last year

| Free entry on the gate for anyone who dares show up, who is then given a token.
Let's fill it, win and the token can be redeemed for the first play off game and/or first game of next season.

| I do not believe in Dance acts in TW2, but Wakey are to be applauded for their efforts getting a 7k+ crowd for the visit of the welsh. 4 weeks continuous hard graft by their back office staff, together with the expert guidance of someone who was not long ago helping us out with marketing strategy goes to show what can be achieved.
The same can be said of the marketing effort of the RFL for the Manly game. People got off their @rses and badgered pubs/clubs/papers/websites etc to push the game and we got 6,500 odd LOCAL types to watch that game.
I really am starting to tire of banging on, but really...what do the back office staff do? They have 14.5 working days between now and Castleford. 8 hrs a day is 116 hrs. If 115 hrs aren't spent marketing the game then something is very very very wrong.
9,975 fans needed......2,000 assured...so 68 fans an hour needed to get them.
1 phone call to BA......would you like 400 free tickets to the stoop for your staff? Yes! Good. All they will have to do is take part in an exit poll by email the week after the game. We will forward you the link to the poll and you can ask your staff to tell us what they thouhght of the day.
Thank you.
Pick up phone, dial Gillette.......
It isn't brain surgery, but the club do seem to think it is

You are spot on with this. Does David Hughes ever read this board because quite frankly it looks like he doesn't give a toss that his investment is hemorrhaging both money and fans.

| So you're prepared to dish out free tickets to every Tom, Dick and Harry just to artificially beat last year's average attendance? Brilliant!
While you're at it why don't you issue every homeless person a ticket too? If they all turn up you might fill the ground.

Oh dear.......here we go again!
I would happily dish out free tickets to any employee of a locally based large multinational company in the hope that they would
a/ buy a beer or a burger
b/ enjoy themselves
c/ possibly consider coming back.
Would you rather we forked out 20k for a page in our local paper?
...anyway, haven't you got a school uniform to try on

What the players do need to realise is that if they put in another stinking performance a lot of folks will think hard about renewing season tickets.

I cannot think of a worse period for trying to sell season tickets.
The performances, the economy etc etc. We need a few good results by the end of the season if people are going to fork out for next year.
Maybe they think we will get amnesia and forget the second half of the season.

| Glaxo Smithkline Beecham? About 10,000 emplyees there alone, assuming they haven't decamped to the peoples republic of low wages.
I'm with GF on this one just hand them out, another thread says mass clerout needed sadly I think that may relate yet again to season ticket holders.
Worst bit of managing expectations ever to say we were going to win the GF

I work for GSK and even giving away tickets wouldn't be as simple as calling up (who ??) and offering them. In practice what would be needed is to arrange to set up a stall in the main street of the building at lunchtime doing some promotion work with a player or two. Whether this would be possible for a sport which has no association with GSK products would be another consideration. Having said that Brentford FC have done this in the past so its possible.
