| The Sun(yes the Sun) is telling me today we have bought Oliver Wilkes!!
Are we beginning to see a trend of McDermotts "type" of player. No skill just steady-is this another Golden, Robinson, Williamson.........
Its sad when you look at some of the flair we have had in recent times. Come on Brian inspire us.

| Yep, thats a BM type of player. Not that I'm against them, far from it, but we need quality flair players now who can win games.
There are no 0 - 0 scores in RL Brian

| Bit of an overreaction guys, if he's as good as Golden or Williamson I'd be more than happy. From what I've seen he's a hard worker and makes yards.
Ok he doesn't have flair but he's a second row if I'm not mistaken, I'm sure we'll have our fare share of flair.

| We don't really need flair forwards, if we're looking for flair it should come from having quality halves and centres.

Where will that come from do we think as our quota is full-less a Kolpak spot?

| Is this Oli Wilkes, as in, the Oli Wilkes that played for Leigh?
Good god.
Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel.

| If Purdham, Robinson, Williamson, Golden et al are all fit, then Wilkes won't get a sniff in the back row, so he'll get upset he's not getting first team football.
So then he'll disappear to Widnes/Doncaster/Barrow etc. and take 20-30k of our cap with him, although by now of course it will be too late to get a replacement.
Then when we do get injuries later in the season, there will one less option to cover back row. If this happens we won't be unfortunate or unlucky, we'll just be stupid.
Leeds and St Helens have laid down the blue print or formula, you buy proven, high quality players (Webb, Randall, Gidley) and then you complement these players with the best of your reserves.

Mick Nanyn was a Scotish International.

I am just manipulating the stats (again)
Wilkes' position of choice is in the second-row, however in 2007 he moved to the front-row. He can also play Loose forward. (wiki stats)
This makes me think we have bought him (if true) as cover for 3 positions and he will start on the bench next year.

No…! I was citing him as one of the top quality players we have in our ranks.
If all our signings are the “calibre” of Oli Wilkes, I'll think long and hard about renewing my season ticket, because we'd be destined for another year of disappointment.

| His stats measure nicely against Richard Moore, who I liked when he played here and still think is a Prop who'd go well for us.
I agree Wilkes has stepped up, and I actually think he'll get better.
