| Hey there
I'm an Aussie living in London. Thinking about visiting your ground when the Storm come to town (Even though I'm from Sydney)
Couple of questions.
1. Whats the bar like....re choice, price etc etc?
2. What time will the stadium open?
3. Roughly how many supporters come to these things? I'm told not many people come for the regular London games throughout the footy season. Manly Sea Eagles came last year but I wasn't in the UK then!
Thanks

| Hopefully both bars will be open mate, prices not too bad, service not the quickest tho, if its busy they might even have the rucksack bar staff, walking around the park so you dont even have to go to the bar
choice is ok
KO is 2 pm so gates prob open at 12 ish but not sure what they have going on before the game so best speak to the club
last year was a pretty good turn out for Manly so atmosphere should be good, as for not many turning up for regular footy, you could easily increrase that number over the summer!!!!! come on mate if yr a rugby fan than you know you want to

| Thanks guys. It doesnt say much on their website regarding opening times etc etc. Do they have offers on match days on beers? The beer prices could be the clincher here as to whether we come down! Do they do bottled beer or is it just the stuff on tap?

No offers. The bar is great though, usually a decent atmosphere, you won't be paying a lot more than in a normal bar in London. Draught beer mainly.

| Hi Neil,
I'm an Aussie and have been a regular at the Stoop for 2 years now. Putting my current feelings aside I can tell you the following:
I reckon the bar is good, your game day experience at the stoop is nothing like that of your NRL experience. The bar at the stoop is great (for our regular bumper crowds of 3.5k). Service can be slow at times but the beer prices aren't inflated like stadia back home. Looking at between £3 - £3.5 a pint, not bad really. With a band post game and team presentations etc it almost has a feeling like a local group or QLD cup game similar crowds too . Post game I always stay for few, and the fans are really friendly and there is usually good banter btwn us and the northern fans.
Support the Quins, Storm are scum and we're lucky a dodgy penalty stopped the eels coming home for the win!
I usually get to the game 30mins before kick off for a beer and to load up to take them to the stands, plenty of pubs around twickers to lube up before the game.

And on top of that Inglis, Slater and Smith won't be playing!
Thanks mate, you have helped me make my mind up!

| Most of the ale is £3ish and the bar service has been fine in my experience as long as you don't go in there half way through the half time period.

any perceived slowness would only be down to the Shepherds Bush backpackers taking their time behind the bar

And there you have it! 12,000 miles from home, a country that is supposedly "sports mad" and yet when their Champion team come calling they can't be 'rsed travelling to TW2
I do believe that Australia has the largest collection of fair weather fans in the world......This numpty will probably traipse off to the Church on Sunday....Australian Culture at its finest

| Sorry guys, I've just realised my first post was wrong. I thought the game was on the 22nd (Monday), turns out it is on Sunday 21st!
To the kiwi who mentioned the Church, I would see you there but we are going to be in Rome on Sunday.

Ok, that didnt work the way I planned...
A few things, I dont know why you would care about Smith, Slater and Inglis... A bunch of Queensland grubs (Inglis, love the fact that he states Bowraville as his jnr club before origin in his maroon jersey)
£3 a pint is not bad in my books, regular London pub prices really. Can't get a full-strength beer at stadia back home thats not at inflated prices so how is that a negative.
I was desribing the post match as almost like a local game, where you interact with other fans and players with entertainment, band and beers. Beats me why you wouldn't like this.
In all seriousness, get down to the stoop one free afternoon, bring your mates and meet some new ones. Even if the footy isn't the greatest, I usually have a great time. What else are you doing, going to the pub? Enjoy a pub atmosphere with some footy thrown in, you'll enjoy it.

Hey gutterfax...
Don't go ragging on Australian sports fans... Look at what we have compared to UK.
AFL, NRL... two top flight competitions drawing amazing crowds and TV numbers week in week out during the winter. Heck dont forget the S14 teams.
In summer a hugely popular cricket team, a growing (but average) football league that people turn up to watch crap week in week out. Throw into the mix all the minor sports, and huge amounts of participation over a variety we have you trumped all in a nation the 3rd of your size.
Come here and I can watch 4 leagues of football rammed down my throat, thrown in with a bunch of cups. Deep in the sports pages I may find some other sports info or get 3 minutes of the hourly bulletin on SKY.
Throw out the usual church line and rag on any aussies who may be reading this, sure to get a few more through the gates.
