| Despite it being a drop down compared to venues we've had previously like the Stoop and Griffin Park. There is an opportunity to build from scratch at Trailfinders with a blank slate.
One of those advantages is the potential to develop funding streams at the site, a club shop, hosting events and selling merchandise which is great. It might be a long time before all of that potential realises itself but how can the club transition the ground as it is into the venue we would like it to be?
Hughes has stated that if the club reach Super League he can quickly transition the ground into a 5-10,000 capacity stadium which I'm sceptical of.
So how would you like the ground to look? What should the feel of the ground be? One thing I hated about the Stoop was all of the activity around the ground which took the focus away from the actual matches themselves, a balance needs to be struck.
I'm also not a fan of the soulless modern stands we've recently been accustomed to in our game with no character and completly lacking atmosphere. The classic stands that we see at stadia like Sydney Cricket Ground and Craven Cottage would give the club the identity it needs, I hope the club seriously takes this into consideration. Will be interesting to see how this develops over time

Black Backgrounds/Zoot.gif Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

| I suppose that DH is thinking on the lines of the temporary stands that they put up for events like the Open Golf, but whether the powers-that-be would permit this as a 'temporary - permanent' measure is another matter.

Come all without, come all within, we're London Broncos not the H********s!:16679.jpg |

| Initially how much would it cost to put some terracing in place, behind the posts and / or opposite the stand? Would surely make the place look a bit more like a sports ground than a park?
I had in mind something like what was behind the sticks at the Hive

| Gold plated portaloos get my vote for seating arrangements.
No less ridiculous than anything St David is proposing.

| Even temporary or rather semi permanent stands as they would be, would require planning permission, and that takes time.
At a motor racing circuit where planning for temporary stands was not forthcoming, they got a dozen old double decker buses and used them. Planning consent soon came after that. Now a line of old route masters would give the ground a real London feel.

I doubt the odds are great and many sports clubs have struggled to progress grounds due to planning. However it is a site relatively isolated from the broader metropolitan open space and the local council may be open to sacrificing one location to retain others that have more value in the broader context even if it wasn't their first choice. Let's face it local councils are financially challenged with national govt withdrawing money annually. If they want to meet their sports and leisure targets, let's assume they have not achieved their longer term goals yet and s106 and CIL won't deliver everything, they may just have to compromise on which parts of open space are developed to meet their broader requirements across a range of sports. It might be this site it could be another, however lets just keep to nothing can happen.

| Houses on Valli's way fetch £750,000......increased traffic alone would kill any application. Fans were fed the same lines when we had the forum at the hive.....its not been thought through properly. They didnt even know the station was closed on Sundays.

Gosh big prices for London houses shock, worse there might be cars in London. Yes those are particular problems which will need to be addressed amongst many more. Harlequins used to play on a field with a few pitches and a stand with the club house in. As you say it'll never happen. I'm quite certain it has not been thought through properly and is flannel of the highest order, as spouted countless times. I'm also feeling we have 3 years left as a club, and even that's optimism.

You can have them. Building work at the Hive starts next week with the terraces being replaced in May.

| I think David Hughes was thinking more along the lines of deckchairs.
Titanic and all that.

| developing the ground at trailfinders has already been looked at and discussed by Ealing RU , something that I heard about before we were linked with the move there.
I would not discount it totally.

There is currently 1 access route to the grounds, which is along Vallis Way.

If I owned a house worth £700,000 to £8000,000 then I'd be slightly concerned at the thought of a few thousand spectators turning my leafy suburban road into a major thoroughfare at weekends and all the associated fun that goes with it.
Here's a link to an application made in 2006 for a new antenna tower....7 letters complaining ansd whilst not relevant to the tower, they point to the reaction if they were going to put 5 or 10,000 seats in there...and the Primary School don't seem particularly "chummy" with the ground!

Sorry, but the "development" line is typical flannel that hasn't been thought through. There are 40 properties on Vallis way alone with a value of about £30,000,000. These residents, let alone those in surrounding streets will prevent anything bigger than a weights room being built.
