Sincerely hoping that the Powell-bashing on other threads has now ended, I think that this is the thread that now deserves our attention.

I doubt TR had much option but choose the previous squad. He must have taken guidance from our senior players so presumably they believe that this 19 are our best available. I hope he's had time, while emerging from jet-lag, to study a few match videos and that he and the squad may be able to sort a few things out.

I'm not sure that he ever was a motivational, rather than a technical, coach but he certainly needs to provide some of that input as well as the tactics. If he can get them to keep focussed for the full 80 mins he'll have achieved all that could be expected of him in the couple of days he's had.
