That will explain why he left without any remark from club. Doesn’t explain why no comment on pretty much every other player who’s left over the last few seasons but that’s one less mystery. Sad all around.

Sad news for all concerned, hopefully he can get whatever help is needed and back into the game at some point in the future, if that's what he wants. A few cases coming to light over the last month or so, timely reminder of the demands of the game and the lengths some players feel the need to go to keep going.

Robert comes from the same part of the world as me (Halstead, Essex) so I always looked out for him. I know I'm biased, but he looked quite decent to me, so I was surprised when he disappeared. Sad to find out what happened.

What needs to be looked at here is where did he get his advice from with regards to what he took. Hopefully and most likely it was nothing to do with the club. That's issue with part time players, lot of strength and conditioning training done by player at local gyms rather than centrally in the club, so access to bad advice far to easy.
